Off to a Great Start

Thank you to all the volunteers that have come in over the past month, your assistance has been greatly appreciated and has helped our school get off to a great start.

I couldn't be more proud of our Safety's so far this year. They have really taken on the responsibility of what it means to be on Safety Patrol. Below are a few pictures of them in action.

Halloween Parade

Due to the fact that Halloween this year falls on a Monday, Smith Elementary and Heritage will be planning our annual Halloween Parade and parties for Friday October 28. The parade will begin approximately at 1:30 p.m. and will conclude around 2:15 p.m., following the same route as last year. At the conclusion of the parade, students will return to their classrooms for their Halloween parties until 3pm.

We ask that parents do not park in the main Heritage parking lot, as this is where the parade will begin and access to the lot will be needed for bus dismissal at Heritage. Thank you.

Technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Please be sure that you and your child have turned in the 2016/2017 Technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). This signed form is required by all students in order to access and use any district devices and networks. Extra forms have been sent home with your child last week if we didn't have one on file.

Insurance and Maintenance Fee for Chromebooks

If you are still in need of assistance with the Insurance/Maintenance Fee for our 1:1 Chromebooks, please contact Mr. Edwards as soon as possible. We encourage you to set up a payment plan, whether it's $1/week or a month, or what every you can manage, we will work with each family to ensure your students device is covered


If you are still looking for a set of headphones to send in with your child, we now have an option for you. If you are interested in purchasing a pair, they are $1/pair. They will be located in the main office or you may send in $1 with your child and we will provide them with a pair.

Regular School Day - 8:57 - 3:45

Late Start Days - 11:32 - 3:45


8:40 - Breakfast opens

8:50 - 2nd and 3rd graders line up outside of classes

8:52 - Bell rings for students to enter hallways and classrooms

5:57 - School Starts

*Please try not to drop off your child any earlier than 8:45 a.m. Thank you!


3:35 - Kindergarten released to buses and parent pick up

3:42 - 1st - 3rd grade Kids Club, Walkers, and pick ups released

3:45 - All bussers released

Late Start Days

11:32 - 3:45

  • Students will eat lunch
  • Each class will receive 40 minutes of specials
  • Normal afternoon recess

Dates: 9/15, 10/13, 11/10, 12/8, 1/12, 2/9, 3/9, 4/20, 5/11, 6/8

Pick up and Drop off Procedures

  • Kindergarten parents are REQUIRED to pick up their students in the lobby
  • Please no parking (leaving your vehicle unattended) along the curb in front of the building
  • We are asking parents to please stay in the lobby before and at dismissal time
  • Please try and notify office ASAP of any bus or pick up changes

*No bus changes for the first 2 weeks of school (per transportation request)

School Volunteers/Visitors

Please check in with the office when you arrive. You will be required to wear a visitors badge

All volunteers are required to have a background check on file. Background checks are good for one full year. Please contact the main office or Mr. Edwards if you have any questions.

Trimesters to Semesters

We have switched to Semesters. You and your child will receive the following reports throughout the school year.

  • 2 detailed progress reports at conference time (November 16-17 and March 15)
  • 2 Report Cards at end of Semester time (January 27 and June 16)
