Arthropods

An Arthropoda, is and invertebrate animal having an exoskeleton, external skeleton, a segmented body, and jointed appendages. Arthropods are members of the phylum, Arthropoda. Their cuticles are mainly made from chitin and their body plan consists of repeated segments, each with a pair of appendages. Many live underwater and ocassionaly come onto land.

Integumentary System-(External Anatomy)

Arthropod exoskeletons are made of cuticles and hardened chemical proteins. All arthropods use muscles to extend their limbs out. The exoskeleton is segmented and is very effective for protection.
