Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
February 17, 2022
Dear Parents,
During the winter months, when the days are short and cold, it is hard for our students to get out of bed, come to school and stay motivated. Let's face it...it's hard for us grown ups as well. So how can we help? Here are a few tips:
- Try to get in some exercise everyday. In addition to gym classes at school, we try to get the students outside everyday for some movement. Please make sure you send your children to school with the appropriate outdoor clothing.
- Change your child's surroundings when doing schoolwork; perhaps a different room in the house. Teachers are encouraged to use different configurations when setting up their classrooms each day and if the weather permits they can take the class outside for a lesson.
- Throw in some fun activities outside of your child's normal routine. At school we like to mix it up with some activities such as school-wide bingo, football fun day, etc.
Hopefully these will allow us to bridge the gap between winter and spring!
Here are a few school updates and reminders:
- School will be closed on Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st.
- Please see the below letter in reference to this year's Technology Fee.
- Our P.I.E. organization will be sending home Luck of the Irish tickets. We are asking each student to sell 3 tickets. Prices are $10 each or 3 for $25. Proceeds will go to offset the cost of events such as Santa Shoppe, Ice Cream Social, etc. Every student who sells 3 or more tickets will receive a free dress down day. The winner will receive $1000!
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God's peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
