Roof Donations
As many of you are aware, the school roof became compromised earlier this year. We are unable to use this section of the building. We need to replace the whole section of the roof, and of course, this is a costly repair that is not in the school or parish budget. We all use this building: our Saint Margaret Mary School students use it daily, our Polish School on Fridays, and our Gather Program families as a part of Religious Education of our parish. We can all agree that this building is well used by our community and needed this repair.
Brothers and sisters, we need approximately $60,000 - $70,000 to repair the roof. I am asking you for help. Please, if you can consider some donations towards our needs, with your help we will solve this huge problem. If each family in our community who uses the building gives only $230, we would be able to accomplish that task. Every dollar will help us reach our goal. If you can’t give $230, we encourage you to give what your family can. We know that some families are in a financial situation where they can donate more. If we surpass our goal, the money collected will be used to make additional repairs to the school building.
How to Donate:
Option 1: FACTS Account
- Complete the Google Donation Form and indicate the amount you would like to donate. https://forms.gle/yxw3tEKeBkY8qxjZ7
- Your FACTS account will be charged.
Option 2: Give Central
- You can donate through our parish website: www.saintmargaretmary.org.
- Please go to Donate now Give Central https://www.givecentral.org/location/260/allevents. There is the option: School Roof Repair.
Option 3: Cash or Check
- You can send cash or check donations directly to the school.
Every donation matters, and we will be grateful for this. It will help us solve the problem, and we will not need to take a loan, which is always a significant problem.
Please help us now, and help our parish, which is the great family we build together.
Meeting with Fr. Witold and Mrs. O'Hearn
The purpose of the meeting is to share the success of the school year and the importance of the partnership of the school and parish. The meeting will be held on Monday, April 19, and Thursday, April 22 from 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Parents are asked to join one of the two meetings - You are not required to attend both meetings.
A zoom meeting link will be sent to all school families on the day of the meeting.
May Crowning
It is our hope that next year we will be able to welcome our mothers to May Crowning.
Virtus Training Email
You all may have received an email from the Diocese of Rockford regarding our Virtus training. You will need to log into Virtus and update your information. Each time there is a revision to any training documents you will receive an email from Virtus to update that information.
COVID-19 - UPDATE
St. Margaret Mary remains ever so diligent in the safety of our staff and students. As things change and updates are given by IDPH or the McHenry County Health Department we will make adjustments at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School.
Updates and Reminders:
INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL: Please let the school office know if you have any plans to travel internationally (including Mexico, Canada, Virgin Islands, and cruises)
After You Travel Recommendations
- Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel.
- Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
- If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
- If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
Rapid Tests: Students and staff being tested for COVD-19 must have an RT-PCR test. The RT-PCR test can take between 2-3 days. When you are waiting for results, all family members must remain home and quarantined. If any person in your household is taking a COVID-19 test for any reason, all household members must remain out of school until the test results are received and notice is given to the school. It is also recommended that if you carpool with someone who is being tested for COVD-19, your child would remain out of school until there is a test result.
The school is able to help schedule you an appointment for a test through the health department.
Close Contact Exposure **UPDATE**: If a family member has been exposed to COVID-19 or identified as close contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, only the person identified as the close contact must quarantine 14 days from the date of exposure. You will need in the house is exhibiting COVID symptoms and or there are no outstanding tests, the family members that are second-hand contact may return to school. If symptoms arise during the 14 days or a family member goes for a test, all family members will need to remain home from school. At that time, your children will be transitioned to remote learners.
** Please consider remote learning if a household member has been identified as a close contact to someone with COVID-19.
Remote Learners: The remote learning option is available to students that will be out of school for an extended period due to COVID-19 concerns or illness. Students will not be put into remote learning for appointments or vacations. If your child is out for an extended period, you will need to contact Mrs. O'Hearn. Additional information will be given to the family of the remote learner at that time. Students will be placed in remote learning within 24 hours of the notice. All students are eligible for remote learning.
Student Illness: If your child is feeling unwell, he or she should stay home, and you should contact the school office directly. Please do not email the office. You will be asked COVID-19 screening questions. These questions will help determine the next course of action. If it is determined that your child should see a doctor or have a COVID-19 test, all siblings will remain out of school until there is a test result or a doctor's note to return. Students will need to stay home for 48 hours from the onset of any sickness (if the illness is not linked to COVID-like symptoms) and 72 hours for a fever. Once a student is symptom-free, he/she may return to school if a COVID-19 test or doctor's note was not required.
** Please consider remote learning if a household member feels unwell and exhibiting any COVID like symptoms.
Reporting to the school positive COVID cases: Please contact the office if you or anyone in your family has tested positive for COVID-19. Even when we are remote, this is essential information to share with the school.
Parking lot Safety
For the safety of all of our children and staff, students will NO longer be permitted to be picked up from the parish parking lot. We ask that all families park in the West parking lot of the school. Once all children are safe in their cars the lot will be dismissed. Any child whose ride is not in the West school parking lot will be sent to the West doors and can be picked up after the parking lot has been released.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding to ensure the safety of all of our students and staff.
