Allen ISD to Host Attendance Credit Meeting
Do you want to learn more about the Attendance Credit Election being held on May 2? Allen ISD is hosting a meeting for parents to fully explain the election and the implications it will have on the district. Presentations will be given by new Superintendent Robin Bullock and AISD CFO Greg Cartwright.
AISD will host an evening meeting at each middle school to provide parents with several opportunities to view the presentation:
- Tuesday, Feb. 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Ereckson Middle School
- Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Curtis Middle School

Multicultural Literacy Night - Family Participation is Needed
Rountree Family,
Please consider hosting a booth at our cultural awareness celebration and story time for our Multicultural Literacy Night. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 31st from 5:30-7:00pm. We need volunteers to represent the many cultures here at Rountree.
We would love to have you host a booth or volunteer to be a story reader for this special evening. We think that it is important for all our students to see the beauty and value of the diverse culture here at Rountree. The attached letter was sent home with your student to sign up. You can also email audra.heins@allenisd.org to sign up or retrieve further information!
Cultural presentation booths will be hall displays and will be designed by you with the help from our staff – you can have some or all of the following: small food samples, displays and decorations, artifacts, flags, pictures or art, games, gadgets, photos, short demonstrations, information flyers/pamphlets or recipes to present along with the story time.
Thank you for your consideration!

Gifted/Talented Assessment Update
District Testing Statement:
In July 2019, a revised Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students (State Plan) was approved. With the newly-approved State Plan, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) issued a clarification statement in October 2019 regarding Accountability Standard 2.15, which states “Assessment opportunities for gifted/talented identification are made available to students at least once per school year.”
In response to this statement of clarification communicated by TEA, each Allen ISD student will have the opportunity to test for potential gifted identification once per academic school year. Per guidelines in the State Plan, Allen ISD’s gifted/talented identification and assessment procedure and qualification criteria consist of at least three quantitative and qualitative measures, including aptitude and achievement testing, creative and critical thinking tasks, and an opportunity for parent and teacher input. Allen ISD’s qualification criteria have not changed. Students already identified gifted/talented by Allen ISD will remain so.
Clarifying Points:
- In continuing with the district’s current practices, students who have previously tested and have not qualified will not be re-evaluated based on prior scores.
- Students who have already tested this academic year (July or September testing for new students or December kindergarten screening) may not test again during this year’s spring administration. They will be eligible again during the spring administration of the 2020-2021 school year.
- Those who tested during the spring 2019 administration (phase I and/or phase II) and did not qualify are eligible to retest again during the spring 2020 administration.
- Those who appealed a “did not qualify” decision during the 2018-2019 academic school year and were told their student would not be eligible to test until spring 2021 will receive a letter clarifying their child’s eligibility to test in spring 2020.
- January 23, 2020-February 13, 2020: phase I testing registration for grades 1-11
- February 29, 2020: phase I testing for grades 1-11
