The Office of Leadership Development has included outside leadership opportunities in this newsletter. They include: The Service Leaders Summit and the PhillyRising Conference. You will not receive points towards the Student Leadership Challenge by attending outside events, unless stated otherwise.

National Coming Out Week (NCOW) Lunch and Learn with Aishah S. Simmons

During the Fall and Spring semester, we host a FREE catered lunch where students can share a meal with a Philadelphia community leader. The program is simple - enjoy lunch and have great conversations on a chosen topic with an inspiring leader within our community. This event is worth 5 Leadership Diamond Points.

Aishah Shahidah Simmons is an award-winning African-American feminist lesbian independent documentary filmmaker, television and radio producer, published writer, international lecturer, and activist based in Philadelphia, PA. She is presently an adjunct faculty member in the Women’s Studies and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Studies program at Temple University where she teaches under/graduate courses, which examine the her/histories and contemporary realities of cisgender women and/or LGBTQ people in all of their diversity.Time Management Workshop

2014 Service Leaders Summit
This event will bring together college students, faculty, nonprofit professionals, and community organizers to share passionate ideas and practical skills for building a better Philadelphia. This year’s theme, ACCESS, is designed to focus awareness on disparities in multiple areas. We anticipate sessions on access to food, access to healthcare, access to education (including college access), etc.
General admission is $10. This fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and a Service Leaders Summit giveaway!
You can earn 10 Leadership Diamond points by attending this event!

PhillyRising Conference
There are no points awarded for attending this event.
PhillyRising is a government agency under the direction of the Managing Director’s Office. PhillyRising focuses on neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia that are plagued by chronic crime and quality of life concerns, and they work with residents to address these issues through partnerships with police departments, community organizations, and other city agencies.
This conference is a great opportunity for Temple students that are interested in getting involved in their local community or that would like to work in the field of public policy or social justice. Students will meet representatives from city agencies and learn how their local government works on a ground level.

The conference is completely FREE and will take place on Saturday, October 18 in Mitten Hall (1913 N Broad St). Weekly Industry Forum
The IB and Entrepreneurship internship programs organize an employer/industry forum series, where you can meet with employers every Monday at noon. This is a great opportunity to learn about industry trends, network, possibly find an internship you'd like to pursue.

Every Monday, 12pm-1pm; in Alter 503D (IEI lab)
Bring your brown bag lunch; we provide the drinks, snacks, and/or dessert!
Different industries, with different panels of employers, will be covered every week.
