FROM THE PRINCIPAL
The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a framework that promotes a well-integrated system connecting general, compensatory, gifted and special education. MTSS provides high quality, standards-based instruction and intervention which are matched to students' academic, social-emotional and behavioral needs. MTSS is a school-wide process, beginning with quality core instruction within the general education classroom. Academic and behavioral interventions are provided to students based on data collection and analysis.
These interventions vary in intensity based on student needs, interventions may be provided by a variety of personnel, starting with the general education teacher. MTSS provides a seamless system of interventions and resources which allows students to make significant progress whether they are low performing and at-risk for failure or are high performing and not meeting their full potential.
When school personnel establish supports and services for ALL students at varying levels of performance, students are more likely to experience success academically and behaviorally. MTSS defines a process whereby a student receives appropriate levels of support and interventions, based on their academic and/or behavioral needs. MTSS is effective only through team problem solving. The MTSS process requires the involvement of the classroom teacher, the family, the student and building specialists. The team will identify student needs, target instruction and determine effectiveness of interventions(s) based on student progress.

Heat Transfer Warehouse Receives National Philanthropy Day Award - Congratulations!
Heat Transfer Warehouse became an Adopt-A-School partner with McKinley Elementary School in 2015. The Adopt-A-School program matches individual schools with area businesses, service clubs, colleges, universities, and other organizations. These partnerships bring business employees and community members into schools to assist with reading programs, tutoring, career awareness, special events, mentoring, extracurricular clubs, community services projects, field trips, or other activities.
Partnerships are meant to give children an opportunity to meet other caring adults in our community, as well as allow them to see and learn more about careers in our area. Heat Transfer Warehouse has been an outstanding partner throughout the years. Their support started with the owners of the business and quickly moved onto their team members. Through the years there are any where from 20-27 Heat Transfer Warehouse team members that volunteer their time to help students at McKinley Elementary.
Team members read to kindergarten students every Friday and have developed positive relationships between the students and community members. Whenever the school or Parent Teacher Association (PTA) need volunteers Heat Transfer Warehouse team members volunteer to fill their needs during school carnivals, Dr. Suess Breakfast, and for many more activities. They are strengthening the Lunch Buddy program that matches a community member with a youth that is at-risk. Through this program an adult volunteer has lunch with a student once a week where they have meaningful conversations, this provides another caring adult in the lives of youth.
Heat Transfer Warehouse also promotes school pride and donates either a sweatshirt or jacket along with a bag or backpack to every student and staff member at McKinley Elementary. Their team members have a huge commitment to make sure that all students needs are met by donating basic necessities for students such as winter gear, socks, shoes, and underwear. In addition to this during the Christmas holiday they purchase gifts for around 100 children that are in need.
During the 2020-2021 school year due to the pandemic volunteers were not allowed into the school. Heat Transfer Warehouse made sure that students and family’s needs were still being met. They donated Hornbacher’s gifts cards for families in need, this allowed families to have access to groceries in a safe way and allowed them to be able to fill their empty cupboards. Team members also made arrangements to continue to read to Kindergartners through Zoom. They also recorded team members readings book for teachers to use in their classroom as they needed.
Heat Transfer Warehouse continues to be supportive and active at all levels of the company from owners to team members. Their innovation, dedication, and flexibility have been an invaluable asset to the students, teachers, staff, and administrators at McKinley Elementary School.
