Family Newsletter
12/19/21
I can't believe it- this is the last newsletter of the 2021 year. I will be writing again before our return in January.
This year has been filled with fun and the return of some traditions with a twist. I am hopeful to see a full return of the traditions now that we are once again adjusting our health and safety protocols and visitor expectations (see below for more info).
The kids are winding down toward the winter break and we are taking time to do some fun community building activities. Thank you 5th grade who hosted a winter wonderland to teach students about the many winter holidays from around the world. First grade shared their creative map projects with me, they made forts (some still to come), Mrs. Harris' class made snowmen, Kindergarten did the gingerbread man story and hunt, the kids were telling me all about some elves that have gotten into Robinson too! We are having a good time connecting with one another and enjoying the little things for a break between our academics.
My wish for your families this winter break is that you all are able to truly relax, focus on what is most important in life, and love on the kiddos. They have been working so hard this year, have made so much progress, and are taking all the changes in stride. They have been so resilient and have stayed positive, creative, and curious. I am just so proud of the kids, our staff, and families. I know it has been a hard 2021, and we made it! We are stronger, braver, and kinder than ever before. I love our community and our spirit! Please spoil those around you, relax, and do whatever it is that makes you happy these next few weeks. Enjoy and I will see you in 2022!!!! YAY:)
Please reach out at any time to share any questions, concerns, or ideas. I am here to help and support you and your family. Thanks for all you do to help keep our students and staff safe.
Take Care-
Angeline

Welcome Mr. Shelton!
Hi Robinson-
For those of you who do not yet know me, I'm Patrick. I enjoy spending time with my husband Matthew and our puppy Riley! In our free time we enjoy traveling, especially to Disney. I am looking forward to working with you all in my new role at the front desk!
See you soon!
Patrick
We are so excited to welcome visitors back for 2022!
As we communicated at the beginning of last quarter, we have been working towards welcoming back families into our school. With the next semester around the corner, we are excited to welcome parents and volunteers into our buildings.
This is possible because of the availability of vaccines for kids in grades K-5. Now that our students have the option to be vaccinated, we are able to follow processes that have been in place at the secondary level throughout the year.
Unfortunately, the one tradition we will not be able to bring back yet is allowing visitors in the cafeteria. As we continue to allow for distancing and other protocols, space will not allow for families to visit at lunch.
Please note that we ask visitors and volunteers to follow the same protocols that are in effect in the building. As such, masks will be recommended beginning Jan. 18. Additionally, any visitor to the building must sign in at the front office at the beginning of every visit to our school.
Please also make sure you are familiar with recent changes to the KSD’s volunteer requirements, especially if you would be volunteering in a capacity where you might be alone with students. Those are detailed on the HR website here: https://www.kirkwoodschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=5293
We are so lucky to have families that want to be engaged and involved in their students’ school. We are looking forward to once again seeing you during the school day.
