Kahoot
To use Kahoot, students all need to have a device or you can have groups of students share a device. The colors and sounds make this very engaging for kindergartners to adults! Students can also create their own questions for you to use in class.
Watch the video below to see how to set up a quiz and have fun Kahooting!
Scrible
Scrible is a web annotation tool that allows you to highlight text, add post-it notes of your thoughts on a text, and share a link to your annotations with others. Scrible is a free site that students can sign up to use with their Google account. There is also a Scrible Chrome extension that can be added to Google accounts to make it even easier to annotate articles on the web.
In the classroom, this is a great tool to get students ready to take digital assessments. Once students are logged in, they can save their annotations and come back to review them at a later time. Teachers can use Scrible to help students master close reading.

Come enjoy a day with colleagues from California and beyond. Arrive with an idea for a session that you would like to lead or with the anticipation of a full day of learning. A session might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices, or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.
During the first hour (8:00-9:00), you will have time to meet other teachers over coffee. There will be an empty session board where you and all attendees can post session titles, either for a session you would like to lead or for one you would like to attend. Sessions begin at 9:45 am.
Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend up to four sessions. The rule of the unconference is to “vote with your feet”. If a session doesn’t meet your needs, simply get up and move on to another room.

EdCampXA
EdCamp is a non-profit organization that has “un-conferences” around the world. In our case, San Dimas High School will open on a Saturday, and teachers from around the area will converge for a morning of conversation, debate, learning, and growth. The event is free for teachers to attend, and the sessions are decided by whoever shows up that morning. Click here to see the website.
Our EdCamp is themed “Excellent Adventure,” after the late-80’s film Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, which took place in and around San Dimas High School (though they travelled through time and space, too).
Also, there's breakfast and free stuff.
