Can you appreciate fine art when you see it? Well, just wait until you see the amazing pieces of art each class has been working hard to create and sell in our PTO sponsored Art Show this month! Parents will have the opportunity to view and bid on artwork in the main lobby of the ECEC during the week of Parent Teacher Conferences. So when you come to visit with your child’s teacher during conferences, please stop by the main lobby to check out the talent and help support the PTO!

Our next PTO meeting will be on Thursday, March 2nd at 4:30pm.

Preschool Registration for 2017-2018 school year

All children who currently attend preschool at the ECEC will be receiving information SOON about enrollment for next school year. This will be sent home with your child in their folder. Please read over all information carefully.

Counselor's Corner

Promoting independence can at times be difficult as sometimes it is easier and quicker for us to help them or do it ourselves. Sometimes we help because, well, they are our babies! Developing independence will help them become more self-sufficient and allow their self-esteem and pride to grow. Resist doing for them what they can do themselves. Provided the task is safe, don't rush in immediately and allow them to problem solve the task. It is also important to resist the urge to redo what they have done as it can discourage independence. Finally give your child a regular simple task such as filling the pet's bowl with food or water, bring in the mail, or help set the table as this can give them a sense of competency.

Parking Lot

Our parking lot has become quite dangerous because we have adults that are not paying attention. To ensure your safety, students safety and staff safety please follow these guidelines.

PLEASE stay off of cell phones and pay attention to the movement of the line

Keep children buckled until you are parked to unload them

Stay by your car until all traffic has stopped

Walk children to staff member holding their hand

Follow directions given by parking lot staff

Additionally, there is no smoking or tobacco use on school property.

Kindergarten Registration-March 7 & 8

Kindergarten Registration for the 17-18 school year is coming up SOON! Please contact the ECEC office if you did not get the paperwork needed to take with you to registration. Hours are 8am-7pm and it is located in the Powell Conference Room at 951 W College St. If your child is attending the Lincoln County R-III school district next year, you MUST register your child. You do not need to take your child with you. Any questions, please let us know.

Late arrival/Early pick up

Please remember that your child is constantly learning while they are in school. If they arrive late or are picked up early, they are missing valuable classroom time. They are also aware they are missing this time, so if at all possible, please try to be on time when dropping off and picking up.

Early out & days off in MARCH-Please read over carefully

We have EARLY out on Wed, March 8. NO SCHOOL on March 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24.

Snow Day Information

Inclement weather is still a possibility even though we are in March. Every effort will be made to provide cancellation notices as early as possible. If Lincoln County R-III is closed then ECEC is closed. As soon as a decision is made, local radio and television stations are notified. School closings will be sent via the district's FREE mobile app, listed on the District website, sent via a parent notification system and posted on Facebook. You can also follow us on Twitter @Linc_R3.

Please know that it is always YOUR decision whether to bring your child to school. We understand that you will make the best judgement for your own situation.

School closed, early release and late start are all options that the District may use. In the event of school being closed no classes will be held that day. If early release is used then bus riders will leave at 11 and car riders at 12 and no afternoon session. In the event of a late start, all AM classes will be canceled and the PM class will be in session at 1pm, full day students arrive at 12pm. Lunch will be served as normal.

It is possible that ECEC will need to adjust these times due to the timing of the weather, you will be notified as soon as possible.

Mason's Message

Ruff! Ruff! Thank you to everyone who donated $1 for my silent auction basket at the Landon's Helping Paw's Trivia Night. I continue to work with students everyday and love my job!!!

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)

Each month a PBIS sheet will come home with your child to help your family support the positive behavior that your child is learning and practicing at school. Hopefully PBIS will encourage your child have positive behavior at home as well. Please read over each item on the monthly PBIS sheet and when your child has completed those tasks he or she can return it to school to add a cutout to our PBIS wall. A copy of the form can be found at this link.

The Nightly Reading Record Sheet is an amazing way to make sure reading is a priority in your house. When your child returns any monthly reading calendar completely filled in, at any time, they will receive a fun book. If they complete 6 calendars in the school year, they will get to pick a book from our “library,” Ms. Kelly will read it to them, and then they get to take it home. The Record sheet can be found and printed here

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”
