Principal's Message
Thank you to FRISB for providing treats, continental breakfast, and boxed lunches from Panera to the staff last week. Your thoughtfulness gave everyone at ISB a huge boost!
As we move toward the end of the year, it is time to share with you the plans for graduation and other end-of-year activities. Planning is an interesting enterprise with the ongoing levels of uncertainty we are all dealing with, but we are at the point where we can share the information. All activities described below are for all students, whether they returned to in-person learning or remain in CDL.
Graduation
ISB seniors will graduate on Monday, June 14, 2021. The ceremony will be held at the Southridge High School stadium, beginning at 6 p.m. Current COVID regulations allow for 25% capacity of the stadium, allowing for all of our seniors and up to six guests to attend. If the capacity is reduced to 15%, we may be forced to limit the number of guests. General details include:
- All safety precautions will be followed. Everyone will be required to wear a mask and seating will be socially distanced (families may sit together).
- Seating is general admission, and a ticket is required to attend.
- Seating will be in the bleachers on the north side of the stadium, with limited seating on the track and the field.
- This event will be outdoors and will happen rain or shine. If COVID conditions at the time change our plans, we will conduct a drive-through event at ISB.
- The ceremony will be live-streamed.
- An optional event will be planned for families unable to attend the ceremony. Please fill out this survey by Friday, May 21st to indicate your interest in attending this optional event.
More details will be coming to you through the Senior Letter that comes from me.
Other Celebrations
We are hopeful that the weather will continue to cooperate and allow us to successfully hold our celebrations outdoors. While COVID precautions will still be required, being outdoors enables us to do somewhat larger group activities. Again, all students are invited to participate, even those who remained in CDL.
- 10th grade, MYP Celebration on May 20, 2021 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a drive-through event in front of the school. More details to come.
- 9th grade Shindig, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This will be an outdoor activity. More details to come.
- 8th grade Social Gathering on June 5th from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. More details to come.
- Junior/Senior Prom, June 5th, evening hours (still working on this). More details to come.
- Senior Celebrations, at school on June 9, 2021 live streamed for families. More details to come.
We are excited to be able to offer our students these fun activities. If anything changes due to COVID, we will regroup and be in contact with you.
Take care.
Sincerely,
Janice Adams
Senior Families: Post-Grad Plans
It’s time to start prepping for graduation! Please check with your senior student to make sure they have filled out this Post-Graduation Information Form. This is due no later than May 12th. We use the information for the commencement program, Senior Awards Ceremony, as well as for sending final transcripts and IB Scores to colleges. Information for the commencement program will go to the printer after May 13th and changes cannot be made after this date; however, we can update all other information in the weeks thereafter. Email Mrs. Muilenburg with questions or updates.
Student Testing
If your student has signed up for testing, we want to reassure you that the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. All safety protocols will be followed including mandatory mask wearing and social distancing.
On the day of testing, please ensure that students come to school well-rested and eat a healthy breakfast, bring fully charged Chromebooks with chargers, and headphones/earbuds.
We'll be providing granola bars and water for students who need a snack break, but students can bring their own snack if they don't like granola bars.
Please note, there won't be make-up tests this year. Students will need to finish their tests within the allotted time (11:30 am to 2:30 pm). If your student doesn't finish the test within this time, there won't be extended or extra time.
Also, since the state test has a sizable content reduction, the individual student report will only show an overall score, instead of many sub-scores. We expect individual student test results to be available in ParentVUE in August.
