Craig Rothenberger Inducted into the JCHS Athletic Hall of Fame
Over his 43 years as Basketball Head Coach here at Junction City High School Craig has captured multiple league championships and leading the Tigers to the OSAA State Championship game 3 times, winning the State Championship in 1994.
Although Craig valued team success on the court over the many years, there was always more emphasis on how he, as Athletic Director, could build exceptional character and accountability in JCHS student-athletes that they could carry with them far beyond their high school years. Craig's efforts are no better magnified than with his development of the JCHS Core Value Program in 2010 that required each student-athlete to personally commit to the core values consisting of Respect, Integrity, Commitment, Attitude & Accountability. Craig, on a regular basis, finds validation of this program when he hears from JCHS alumni and sees how they are succeeding both in the workplace and a home with strong family values.
Craig served on the Oregon Athletic Directors Association (OADA) Executive Board for 17 years. Craig's many unmatched recognitions at the state level. Thank you Coach:)

Kindergarten - 8th Grade Math Curriculum Adoption
Every year our school district is responsible for adopting K-12 educational curriculum for students. The adoption cycles are on a rotating basis with a different subject adopted each year. This year, 2022-2023, is the Math adoption with implementation of the new curriculum in the fall of 2023. The math standards in the state of Oregon were updated in October of 2021. Standards at the K-8 level had very few changes, but the most changes were at the high school level. Due to the number of changes to the standards, the high school team will be postponing their adoption until 2024. As part of this process, the state develops a committee and evaluates curriculum from different publishers. A scoring rubric is used to determine whether instructional materials meet State Board-adopted criteria for high quality instructional materials for K-12 grade. Out of that process, the state approves a list of adopted curriculum. From that list, each district adopts from the approved list. The Junction City School District has developed a curriculum adoption team to review the state approved materials for adoption. This team is in the process of meeting regularly to discuss math goals in Junction City, review virtual materials, view curriculum samples, and meet with publishers. The K-5 team has narrowed the choices to 4 curriculums and the 6-8 team has narrowed the options down to 6 choices. This is an opportunity for families to review curriculum materials virtually. Here is a link to the MathCurriculum site. Please follow directions on the site to provide feedback for the materials you review. Thank you for assisting in this important adoption process.

Integrated Guidance Survey
As we continue to strengthen our systems and programs in the Junction City School District, we want to hear from you about your child's needs in order to help us achieve our goals and to support you better. If you do not have a child in the district, we value your input on how to make our schools better. This information will also help us complete the new Integrated Plan we submit to the Oregon Department of Education. The Integrated Plan consists of state initiatives; High School Success (M98), Student Investment Account (SIA), Career and Technical Education (CTE), Everyday Matters (Attendance) and Early Indicator and Intervention Systems. These initiatives support goals around attendance, mental health, graduation, increased academic achievement, and readiness for college and career. Theses initiatives in addition to our district vision will create a vision for readiness for all students in Junction City.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and thank you for your input.
