Bulldog Brief

We are the Wylie Way! 3/22/16

What's happening on Thursday. . .

Hours - 8:00 - 3:00

Dress - Your choice as long as you are covered :)

8:15 - 9:45 - We will meet as a staff to discuss district updates, next week's schedule, talk 16-17 scheduling, and look at summer/August schedules. We will do our best to keep it to 90 minutes or less.

9:45 - 3:00 - Work day to plan with teams, complete grades, etc.

Round 1 is here! Our precious 4th graders will take the Writing STAAR test on Tuesday, March 29th. Below you will find the schedule. Please review this to be prepared to ask questions on Thursday morning. We will take a few minutes that morning to clarify anything that isn't clear. Please keep in mind that it takes a village to make sure all goes well for these hard working kiddos, so we appreciate everyone being flexible on this day.

Random important tidbits. . .

1. GT referral process is currently open. 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade teachers - if you have any referrals, please have the referral packet turned in to Katie Post no later than 4/1. All kinder and 3rd have already participated in the referral process with a district wide screening, so they may no be nominated this year (unless they enrolled after testing date). They will no longer test in a large group on Saturdays. Jamie and Katie will work with teachers to schedule the student for the initial testing during the month of April. More details to follow if you have a student nominated.

Reminder about Parent Conferences - Spring Conferences are a little different than fall conferences. Please plan to meet with all of your students that are reading/performing below grade level. Once you complete your spring conferences, please complete a log sheet and turn it into me. This will serve as your spring conference documentation. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. 504 meetings and ARD meetings can serve as this conference if you have covered the necessary data in the meeting. Thank you - I know you are working hard with each of your students and they have made great gains. This is a great time to celebrate the successful and share the target areas.

Teacher Survey

It is the time of year for you to help with our district and campus climate survey. The survey window is set for March 14 - 28. Please take a few minutes to tell us how we are doing. The link for the teacher survey is listed below:

Character & Climate Surveys

Once you complete the survey, see Pam and she will give you a treat and a jeans pass to be used when you just need a jeans day this spring.

20 Tips for a Positive New Year by Jon Gordon

Focus on “Get to” vs “Have to.” Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. Life is a gift not an obligation.
