Principal Newsletter

From the Desk of Mrs. Riley

August 30, 2018

Dear Parents,

What an amazing first few days of school we have had! It was wonderful to see the smiling, excited faces of our students as they came into school on the first day. Our Kindergarten class joined us on Wednesday in their new uniforms and entered a brand new Kindergarten classroom! All of our students were able to tour our new Digital Learning Commons and it was so rewarding to hear all of the excitement that they have for this new space. We welcome Mrs. Kristen Gentile to our OLGC family as our new Media Specialist. We also look forward to welcoming our Pre-K students as they join us for their first day of school on Tuesday, September 4th. We are not complete until our entire family is with us!

In the words of St. Benedict, "Whenever you begin any good work, you should first of all make a most pressing appeal to Christ our Lord to bring it to perfection." A successful school year cannot happen based on planning, organization, and curriculum alone. With the grace of God and an appeal to Him to bless our efforts, we can paint a masterpiece this year!

Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!

Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.

God’s Peace,

Mrs. Barbara Riley

Principal

Arrival & Dismissal (Pre-K through 8)

In the AM, all car rider vehicles enter through Knowles Avenue only and exit out 2nd Street Pike.

Children arriving at school with be greeted off of the bus by OLGC staff & directed to enter the building through the Gym doors. Students then report directly to their classrooms. This process is the same for those students who are car riders as well.

Buses dismiss from OLGC between 3:00 PM & 3:10 PM. Car Pickup is at 3:00 PM at the Gym Doors. Cars must exit the parking lot via Knowles Avenue only.

*PRE-K STUDENTS: All Pre-K students are to be dropped off & picked up at the doors located by the Gym Entrance. In the morning, parents should drive up to the Gym Entrance where our Faculty & a group of 8th Graders will be waiting to escort your child to his or her classroom. For those children that are half-day, your child's teacher or aide will escort your child to those same Gym doors at 11:45 AM for half-day pickup. Regular full-day Car Pickup follows this same procedure. Children are escorted to the Gym doors at 2:30 PM & then released to their parents. Please exit the parking lot via Knowles Avenue only.*
