Monday Morning Memo

St. Mary of the Assumption School

February 2, 2021

Note from the Principal

Good evening!

While today is still a snow day, I wanted to make sure you received this week's Monday Morning Memo as it is full of important information. This week is Catholic School's Week and we have several events planned. We will keep you updated on the rescheduling of Monday's and Tuesday's events as soon as we are back in school.

Attached is the summary report for the mid-year feedback and climate surveys. I truly appreciate everyone that took the time to respond to these surveys and I am excited to implement some of the requested changes to make your child's learning experience even better. While we cannot be together physically, we remain dedicated to providing a supportive educational environment and excellent academics. If there is anything that we can help with, please let us know.

Have a wonderful week,

Mrs. Lewis

Survey Summary Report

Thank you to all the families that completed the mid-year surveys. Your feedback helps us make our school better for each of our students. A full summary is available here.

The following changes will be put into place as a result of the feedback given:

  1. Core teachers that are out sick will be replaced with a live substitute for at least half of the day.
  2. Teachers will be provided with detailed feedback from survey pertaining to their class and use it to plan future instruction.
  3. Snow Days going forward will be remote learning days. Staff will do their best to ensure that in-person students will be sent home with all needed materials if inclement weather is in the immediate forecast. Two hour delays will remain a 10:30AM start time for all students to allow for safe travel before the start of classes.
  4. The school will continue to work with the Archdiocese and the local health department to ensure that all our teachers have the opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. Once this is achieved, the School Advisory Board will revisit the current learning model and evaluate if changes are needed in the fourth quarter.
  5. The administration will reach out to each family individually by the end of February to see what support is needed for the second half of the year.

Please continue to share your questions, concerns, and compliments. We love having you as part of our SMA family!
