Sub Grains Groups
They are two groups for grains.
- Whole Grains
- Refined Grains
An Ounce
An ounce is determined as 1 slice of bread, 1 cup of cereal, or 1/2 cup of noodle, rice, or pasta.
Nutrients in Grains
- Iron which is used to carry oxygen in your blood
- Magnesium it is used to build bones and release energy from your muscles
- Selenium it protects cells from oxidation
Benefits
- May reduce the risk of heart disease
- May reduce risk if constipation
- May help with lose weight
- Prevents neural tube defects when pregnant
