Excellence In Everything - Edition IX
This Week
Tomorrow - March 10th during Advisory, we will have our UIL Awards Banquet. If you coached a team, please come down for pizza and refreshments! You can talk about your team if you'd like, or you can leave that to me!
This Friday we will be at the end of the 9 weeks grading period for Semester 2, Cycle 1.
All grades for work assigned through Friday, March 13th will need to be in grade book and marked "Ready to Post" by 4pm, Monday, March 23rd.
Mrs. Kunze will open grade book up, ready for final grades to be posted, on Wednesday, March 11th.
She also sent an email with specific directions - read through that. Ask if you have any questions!
Idle Hands
If the devil catch a man idle, he'll set him at work. (T. Fuller, _Gnomologia_, 1732)
"Idleness is the root of mischief." Chaucer's 'Tale of Melibee' (c. 1386).
I have not found any quotes saying, "Middle School students really do well with down time." Keep your students busy, focused, accountable and working hard.
Do not get slack with passes, phones or work - Spring Break starts at 3:58 on Friday - not before.
Subs
Teaching at a middle school is one of the hardest jobs in the world...subbing at a middle school is close behind.
If you have any questions, please talk to Mrs. Walker or myself about the work you are leaving.
And make sure to run roll sheets!!

Teacher Grants!
Dear Lago Vista ISD Teachers,
Are you interested in becoming a recipient of grant money to fund an inspiring idea you may have for your classroom, your department, your grade level or even for your campus? The Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation encourages all teachers to apply for the 2019-2020 Teacher Education Grants.
Grants will be awarded to teacher initiated programs or projects. The number of grant recipients depends on the amount of funds available each year. Individuals, teams of individuals or even a whole campus are eligible to apply.
Applications may be accessed at http://www.lagovistaisd.net/upload/page/0070/docs/GrantApp.pdf. Deadline to submit your application, with all approvals, is Tuesday, March 31, 2020. All guidelines, procedures and tips to write and apply for a grant are available with the application.
Since the formation of the Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation, we have issued grants totaling approximately $175,000. The foundation is motivated and focused on continuing to make funds available to all teachers each year. Our purpose is to encourage, facilitate, recognize and reward innovative and creative instructional approaches that align with the district and/or campus educational initiatives.
If you have any questions or need further information, please send an email to lvisdeftx@gmail.com.
Sincerely yours,
The LVISD Education Foundation Board
