Cordelia Hills Update

11/18/2019

Principals Message

Just a reminder that Report Card conferences will take place this entire week from November 18-November 22. Each of those days is a minimum day with school running from 8:20-11:50 each day (ALL K-5). TK continues on regular schedule.

Every student and their progress matters. I read every single report card and try to have a basic gauge of where each student is. Reflecting on the report cards makes me realize that teaching, learning, and grading are NOT always easy. Grades and expectations related to those grades can vary from staff member to staff member. With that in mind, my largest advice is to focus on making sure your student is growing and to make plans with classroom teachers to see continued growth into the second trimester. This is a team effort and getting caught up on grade marks in elementary school is not always the most fruitful exercise. We appreciate your support of our students and our community!

Spirit Day, 11/18-11/22

Our student leadership group has organized a spirit week for next week. Check out the days below:

Tuesday: Dress like a parent day or wear formal wear (tie/collared shirt or dress up dress)

Wednesday: Crazy/Wacky Wednesday --always a student fave!

Thursday: Teacher/Student/Principal Swap - kids dress up like teachers/principal and adults dress up like their kids

Friday: Sports and cookies day - Students dress up in their favorite sports/team wear. Student Leadership will be passing out pre-packaged cookies!

Scholastic Book Fair is OPEN THIS WEEK!

Attendance Challenge 2019-2020

Come to school, every single day that you can. As I read report cards, many students who of our students who are struggling to meet standards have missed large chunks of school. Currently, we have 39 students who have missed at least 10% of the school year. Let's get our rate up and strive for success.

FSU and student ID (6 digit perm ID). Example: FSU123456

Last name: MUST BE ALL CAPS

Phone number: Do not use a phone #. Actually put the month and day of bday. So October 24 is 1024

They can use the same information to access up to 3 print materials at the library.

QUAD Stair Policy

Old Policy: Students should descend quad staircases using the side staircases (the ones with two railings).

New Policy: Students should descend quad staircases using any staircase with a railing. Please avoid using the large staircases when coming down. It isn't safe.

Free Breakfast for ALL students, 2019-2020

Starting this year, breakfast is free for all students (free, reduced, and paid accounts).

The Cover Letter in English and Spanish is linked here! Breakfast at CHE starts at approximately 7:50.

Please note that students reporting to breakfast must remain in the MPR for the entirety of the period before school. We ask that they avoid walking about campus and report directly to the breakfast.
