SBAC Updates
The ELA portion of the SBAC will be one hour shorter this year! Follow this link for the latest published changes by ODE and SBAC.
Updates to a previous communication:
- Removal of all Brief Write (short answer items) in the ELA (CAT). 1
- Replacement of Brief Write items with machine-scored items: evidence-based selected response, hot text, multiple choice, and multi-select.
- I will receive verification from ODE on Monday if students must compare more than 1 article for the PT research claim.
DISTRICT NEWS
Restorative Practices for Elementary Classified Staff
These classes will be held the 2nd Wednesdays in February, March, and April from 2:30-4pm. This is a 3 part series and requires attendance on all 3 dates. Register with this registration link . Space is limited.
Campaign to reduce vehicle idling on District property
The District is launching a campaign to reduce unnecessary idling in all vehicles on District property. (Board Policy EBAD). The “Turn Your Key, Be Idle Free” campaign will launch on Monday, January 22, 2018. You may use this toolkit to help spread the word. The video and the article will appear in Friday's All Star News
ELD Adoption Survey
The ELD Adoption Cadre is seeking input from all teachers regarding current practices and professional development needs related to students learning English.
This optional, anonymous survey will help to inform long-term plans to meet the needs of our linguistically diverse students.
Reading Endorsement
Have you ever considered pursuing a position as a Reading Specialist, Intervention Teacher and/or Title 1 Reading Support? Maybe you just want to build your background and repertoire of best practices in literacy instruction. Either way, securing a Reading Endorsement from a reputable program is most likely your first step. Great news! The Beaverton School District is considering (depending on teacher interest) hosting a Lewis and Clark Reading Endorsement Cohort conveniently right here on our own campus! If you would like more information, please attend the information session on February 12th from 4-5pm at Rock Creek Elementary. Further information attached.

Window 10 OS Update
In order to provide needed security enhancements all BSD Windows desktop and laptops that are currently running Windows 7, 8 and older versions of Windows 10 must be updated to the latest release of Windows 10 by February 5, 2018.
