Week of September 30th

Eastside's Mission

Our mission is to build a strong educational foundation while meeting the unique needs of our students.

Eastside's Vision

Working in partnership with the community, Eastside Elementary will provide all students:

  • A collaborative team of professionals who are committed to improve their practices, so that all students learn at high levels

  • A safe, positive, and inviting learning environment

  • An engaging and challenging curriculum focused on essential academics and life skills

  • Individualized and timely support that provides students with what they need to succeed

One Word Reminder

Are you living your One Word? Life and work get busy and our one word may end up taking a back seat, which defeats the purpose because keeping the one word front and center in our minds will keep us focused on improvement/growth.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/one-word-that-will-change-your-life-dan-britton-jimmy/id1329995882?i=1000425441625 is a link to a blog that discusses the value of keeping our One Word in front of all we do.

Hattie's Corner:

See chart below for all kinds of strategies that Hattie has researched. Remember anything above 0.40 is seen as effective. If you see something that you are unsure about what it means, feel free to email me and I will provide more information about it! I would love to hear from you about Hattie strategies that you are trying out in your classroom. Feel free to email Mrs. Krogman and myself pictures and explanations of things you are trying! One Team, One DREAM!

Learning Happening at Eastside

Details for the Week

  • IMPORTANT INFO:

  • SMART goals - Do the students know the goal for your essential standard? Make sure to post your goal with your essential standard in your room, so students know the focus. I think most of you for Unit 1 had an 80% goal.

  • SIT doc updating - for any students in grades 2 and 3 - needs to be completed by end of day on Friday. All staff working with these students on reading interventions will input a comment. For example, the PROWL teacher will comment, the interventionist will comment, and the literacy teacher will comment. Let me know if there are questions about this. If I am the PROWL teacher and their literacy teacher, I will have two comments (One about PROWL and one about classroom performance). PROWL comments need to include information from the Kilpatrick one minute drills. Example of a detailed comment: Sam worked on identifying lowercase letters with the alphabet arch. He can identify the letters in his name but still needs to focus on all other letters. or I worked with Izzy on D2 of the one minute drills. She is still not automatic. We will begin using concrete objects this week to help her become more understandable with these phonological skills.

  • MAP Progress Monitoring will be with grades 2 and 3. They will take their test in the computer lab with Mrs. Cardin during their keyboarding time.

  • 3-5 DIBELS Progress Monitoring this week.

  • Please fill out the fall festival doc. We need all of your help! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SlBXzDkz9SlP3kzsv0CaLR881cOKvwj2mTVawVzCwZQ/edit#gid=0

  • Qballs - Make sure your Qball is working and you are using it with students! I have only seen it in use in a few rooms. If you are having connection issues, put in an IT ticket.

  • PROWL dismissal (7:45 for intervention groups, 7:47 for enrichment groups, 8:17 for enrichment groups, 8:20 for intervention groups) Students will stand in the hallway outside the door until 7:50. Teachers make sure you are outside your door greeting students coming into PROWL at 7:50 and leaving PROWL at 8:20. We need all eyes for supervision.
