Safe Routes
Lawrence Public Schools, in partnership with the Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department and the Lawrence-Douglas County MPO is working on an updated citywide Safe Routes to school plan for Lawrence. Parent input is needed to weigh in on the Safe Routes to School plan and provide feedback that helps us prioritize programs that will ultimately improve student travel to school. We need parent input even if their kids do not currently walk or bike to school. This feedback will inform the policies for the City of Lawrence and help shape the vision of our city and the future of the Lawrence Safe Routes to School Program. It is vitally important for parents to provide their input. Visit this link to fill out the online worksheet packet. Your school’s feedback is due by January 22, 2020. We have paper copies available at the office.

REPEATS and REMINDERS
Building Reminders
Building Secure 8:00 am-6:00 pm
Deerfield entrances are locked at 8:00 (or very soon after). We must insist that all parents exit the building immediately when class begins at 8:00 am.
As a reminder, parents are welcome to walk students to class only if arriving before 8:00 am. Once the building is secured at 8:00, students will need to be dropped off at the office to get a tardy slip before walking to class. Parents will not be allowed to walk students to class after the 8:00 bell rings.
Those who have made arrangements with the teacher to visit or volunteer need to sign-in at the office and wear a Deerfield Visitor badge.
