This January, families with students in the 8th grade will have the opportunity to participate in the high school choice process. In the 2022-23 school year, our District will open two new high schools and implement a new High School Student Assignment Plan. Freshman Academy began in fall 2021. The College & Career Academies and Pathways will be rolled out over the next four years until fully in place in 2024-25.

The new High School Student Assignment Plan guarantees students placement in their neighborhood school and allows students the option to apply to any high school. The district’s newest high schools, Buena Vista and Westview, will open their doors to 9th and 10th graders in August 2022. The Omaha Public Schools will have nine excellent and comprehensive high schools available to students for the 2022-23 school year.
