March 26, 2021

Congratulations Mrs. Ostrander

Mrs. Katherine Ostrander was officially approved as the Principal of Butterfield School to begin at the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Mrs. Ostrander has spent this school year serving the Butterfield community in her role as an administrative intern, forging critical connections with students, staff and families during that time.

State Testing

On an annual basis, the state requires schools to offer state testing. In order to preserve our instructional time, we will be conducting all assessments on Wednesdays. A schedule is included below that outlines which dates and times your child’s grade level has been assigned to come onsite.

All testing must be done in person. Therefore, students who are remote are expected to attend the testing sessions in-person. If a student is unable to attend in person, they will not be able to participate in assessments. Instead, they will be expected to login remotely to their typical Wednesday schedule.

We know this schedule may pose issues and difficulties for some families. Should you wish for your child to participate and he/she is NOT able to attend on Wednesdays, please email your child’s principal.

Information about the specific state-mandated tests we will be administering can be found below:

The ISA is an online group-administered achievement test designed to assess the Next Generation Science Standards and includes the areas of Life, Physical, Earth, and Space sciences with engineering and technological design features embedded in the other science domains.

Students enrolled in third through eighth grade will be completing the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The IAR assessment is an online group-administered achievement test designed to measure student proficiency relative to the Illinois Learning Standards in the areas of English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics. The state of Illinois is required by the U.S. Department of Education to administer this assessment.

Wednesday Schedules

Students who are currently attending in-person will line up at their usual doors. Students who are Remote Only, but are coming in on a Wednesday, will line up in the back of the school on the black top. On these Wednesdays, in which your student is scheduled, drop off is at 8:30am and pick-up is at 11:00am. Please note, not all students are attending on Wednesdays, so the following schedule is specific for who will be in attendance:
