We finished our week spreading love and kindness with cards and special treats.

science benchmark
There will be a science benchmark test in March before Spring Break. It will cover a lot of standards. Please review the study guide with your 5th grade student so they are prepared for the test. Students are encouraged to complete at least two Gimkit sessions at home. The Gimkit session has questions from all of the standards that will be tested. Parents, siblings, teachers, and friends can also join in. Practice 5th grade science on Gimkit: http://bit.ly/sciencebmpass. Prizes will be given to the students with the highest percentage correct on the Gimkit assignment.
Sixth Grade
Salvete discipulī! (greetings students) This week, we finish our unit on African Kingdoms and prepare for Black History Month. We also are beginning our study of the history and legacy of Rome. We will begin with the founding of Rome and the Roman Republic and transition to the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. This should keep us occupied through the end of 3rd quarter and beyond. Carpē Diem! (seize the day)
Students have started Ecology Vocabulary in science class. This week and next weeks’ bellwork is focused on strategies for reading and understanding test questions. As far as Ecology curriculum the students were reviewing vocabulary words and definitions in multiple ways.
Pre-Algebra students completed projects in math class to practice working with parallel lines cut by a transversal. They worked in groups in class to design their own city. Their city had to have parallel and transversal streets, as well as various buildings that formed different types of angles. The students enjoyed working on this project and are looking forward to more project activities in the future.
