College Go! Week!

College GO! is dedicated to helping students find the right college to fit their personalities and interests. College GO! gives students options to research schools and visit campuses, and then guides them through the steps of preparing and applying for college.

Our students dressed up as their future career choice and explored colleges and career options throughout the week.

PLTW Science of Technology Course at WJHS

The Science of Technology course at Washington Jr. High has been learning about engineering and the design process. They have designed team logos and a piece of furniture that they wish they would have in their house. In addition to STEM principles, the Sci-Tech course is a part of the PLTW Gateway program that focuses on collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving.

One of the new features in the corporation is the Design and Innovation Studio that is located in the junior high. The Sci-Tech course is currently learning about the Sphero robots. The Sphero robots utilize block coding and the students have been working on their problem solving skills completing a program that moves their Sphero from a start line through either a tunnel or over a ramp to a finish line. The task involves the student groups to work together and problem solve to make their program a success.

The learning experience has been super engaging and enjoyed by both the teacher and the students!

School Closing & Delays

As we enter autumn the possibility of inclement weather increases. Please see our website for more information to prepare for the possibility of a school closing or delay.

School officials make decisions about school closing based on weather information, directly checking weather and road conditions, communication with street departments, police agencies, and neighboring school districts.

A School Closing or Delay will be announced as early as possible, but it is not always feasible to predict if a closing or delay is needed the night before. Notifications will be sent via school messenger, local media, WCS website, push notifications to our mobile app, and social media pages.
