Homecoming 2019
Homecoming week 2019 will be September 30 – October 5. The theme of this year's homecoming is "Out of This World." The SCA is planning a Screen on the Green event for Wednesday, October 2 at 7 p.m. They will be showing the movie Wall-E. They will also sponsor hall decorating and door decorating as well as spirit days. The homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, October 5 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Yearbooks are sold solely through online ordering. You can order your child's yearbook at jostensyearbooks.com. Senior portrait makeups are on September 26th. In order to maintain consistency, we are asking all seniors to take their senior portrait free of charge at school on September 26 if they have not already done so. Please sign up with Mr. Siock in Student Activities to schedule a time for your senior portrait.

Kudos to the following folks:
Dawn Euman, Kate Lucas, & the senior class for their painted parking spaces project which was featured in the school division's The Core newsletter. You can see the article here.
Wood Gehlert, Jeremy Yoder, Chelsea Brechtel, Mason Cox, Tommy Reamon, & Marcus Johnson-Williams for their help in the singing of the alma mater at the end of the football game on Friday night. A big shoutout to our band, cheerleaders, SCA students, & football players who led the crowd in the singing!
LHS for once again garnering the Sustainable School recognition. This effort is led by Kasi Daniel.
LHS grad LaRonde Liverpool who was recently featured in a Virginian Pilot article. LaRonde returned to Wake Forest this fall after a near fatal automobile accident. You can see the article here.
Melissa Calaman, Rachel White & the Lady Eagle Engineers for representing LHS at the Air Show on Friday. They had help with the planning for the event from Jennifer Renne and Gordon Limbaugh.

Student Advisory Board Applications Available
The Student Advisory Board is comprised of students in grades 9 through 12 who wish to serve their school by providing student voice, advice, and perspectives to administration. The SAB meets with administration throughout the school year during the lunch period. The online application is available here. The deadline to apply is September 27th.
WiFi Devices Available
The school division has a limited number of Kajeet Smartspot Wi-Fi devices for students. Kajeet Wi-Fi devices provide students have access to the internet and online resources outside of school hours and during virtual days. These devices are available for families that do not have reliable internet service at home. Families may request a Wi-Fi device by completing the appropriate forms located in the school counselor’s office. Please Log Your Volunteer Hours!
VBCPS values and promotes active engagement of the community in all our schools. The Office of Family and Community Engagement coordinates many volunteer opportunities for community members to interact and contribute to the academic achievement of our students and the overall continuous improvement of VBCPS. Volunteer opportunities may include:
Serving in a PTA/PTO/PTSA
Serving as tutors, mentors or guest speakers
Providing assistance in classrooms, cafeterias, libraries or main offices
Organizing student enrichment and recognition activities
Supporting special events, athletics, school planning councils and advisory boards
Please be sure to log your volunteer hours through the VBCPS Get Connected database. VBCPS uses this information to quantify the value of volunteer service and apply for divisionwide federal grants that benefit our schools and students!
