Rattler News
Newsletter for the Week of May 23rd, 2022
Message from Mrs. Chavira, Campus Principal
Rattler Community,
It is hard to believe that we are closing the year. We are entering our last 8 days of school. I want to take a moment to thank everyone for a successful year. We started our year very different than the way we are able to end it. I want to thank our parent volunteers that have been supporting our campus as we transition to more live events. I am grateful that we are able to end the year with our live All-Star awards assemblies, events for our students to have fun in such as water day, dances and their grade level field days. We are also grateful to be able to have our awards ceremonies for our students. If you visit the newsletters our feeder pattern sends, all campuses will be limiting spectators. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Finally, teachers will keep their ClassDojo account active for the school. Teachers are not on duty and will not be answering classdojo messages. They will keep the account active to allow the campus to continue to send you messages regarding the upcoming school year. Unless you will be attending a different campus, please keep your ClassDojo active.
Wishing everyone a wonderful last 8 days of school. Thank you again for your support in Dr. Sue A. Shook Elementary and #TEAMSISD.
Respectfully,
Cristina Sanchez-Chavira

STAAR Assessments- 3rd to 5th
We will be meeting with parents of students that did not meet expectations. The Acceleration Learning Committee (ALC) will review results with parents and a plan of action will be set-up to help students continue to close the gap for their upcoming school year. Meetings can be held live or through TEAMS.
We will continue to work as a team to meet the needs of our students. Thank you for your support.
FIRST GRADE: Device Pick-up
Students in 1st grade will receive laptops at the beginning of their 2nd grade year.

Early Pick-ups
- We are unable to process parent pick ups 30 minutes before dismissal time (2:15). During this time teachers are preparing for their end of day with agendas, instructions and reminders for students. Staff is working on any changes to dismissal schedule. Attempts to pick-up students after 2:15 cause a disruption to regular dismissal.
Please plan accordingly and arrive on time
We are not responsible for added wait time as a result of waiting in line
IMPORTANT DEVICE Update
Devices are having a difficult time updating
Devices are being used for personal use to keep pictures and videos. We ask that all personal videos or pictures be removed. These devices are for school use.
Technology Checks
Work Orders
Please submit them through your child's teacher by informing them.
Third Party Vendors
Please do not take devices to be services by 3rd party vendors. This will void the district warranty and will result in parents having to pay $100 upon the return of the device.
Reporting Absences
Reporting Absences
If you need to report an absence, our Attendance Clerk will be able to assist you. Mrs. Isela Brinks will be receiving the email to help assist you. I will forward all of your messages to the classroom teachers so they are aware of the absence.
Email: attendancesueshook@sisd.net
Please include as much detail as possible:
- Child's name
- Grade
- Teacher
- Student ID
- Reason for the absence
All notes will be collected via this email as well. Be sure to include details in the note as the child returns to class.
If they have a doctor’s note, it must be included in the email as an attachment
Student Attendance
- Attend school daily and arrive on time. School starts at 7:30 AM. Breakfast in the classroom begins at 7:15 AM. Tardy bells rings at 7:30 AM.
- If your child is feeling ill, please know we understand that you will need to keep them at home.
- Please communicate absences with both teacher and school. You may upload your documentation and email at attendancesueshook@sisd.net
IMPORTANT: Scholars need to be in school 90% of the instructional time. Patterns in tardy arrivals and early pick up may affect scholars in this area.
