Dear TigerHawk Family,
Within that difficulty, we had a good number of things to celebrate! At the top of my list is that our students and staff attended school every day! We did have quarantine and illness in our school but, we were able to continue teaching and learning. I am grateful for the hard work and dedication of our staff and families that allowed us to keep our kids in school. Fortunately, it looks like 2021-2022 will have a different look!
In preparation for the upcoming school year, we are planning on after school programing being available at both West Union Elementary and Valley Elementary. We believe this is a valuable service to our community and provides a safe and purposeful place for our kids at the completion of the school day.
The USDA has extended the free school lunch program through all of the 2021-2022 school year. This is something that is a great benefit for our kids. It will still be important that families complete the Free and Reduced Lunch applications at registration time. These applications help to determine certain portions of our school's funding and qualified registration fees can be waived based on eligibility for families.
As many of you may know, our West Union Elementary school is undergoing work to replace the heating and air exchange system. The system being replaced was original to the building in 1959. Our new system will provide improved air exchange to help with interior air quality. This is a big project and will extend into the fall.
Our plans for the 2021-2022 school year are well underway. The school calendar can be found on our district website: https://www.nfvschools.com/calendar.
One of the other successes from the 2020-2021 school year was online school registration. The district is planning to continue with this option for families. More information will be shared as we near August 1st.
At the time of writing, we have 72 days until the first day of school! Get out, enjoy your summer and Go TigerHawks!
