MPES Connection
January 22, 2021
Message from Mrs. Mamon
As we have been communicating, with some families choosing to change their selection of either a hybrid or virtual learning environment for the second semester, it was necessary for us to reorganize classrooms to maximize the teaching and learning opportunities for all students. This reorganization means that some students have been assigned to a new teacher for the second semester to accommodate the learning choices of families.
All of our teachers and staff members at MPES are outstanding! I am confident that every student will continue to learn and grow this school year no matter what classroom he/she is in. Our teachers are working closely together to ensure that transitions are as smooth as they can be for every student and family.
- If your student will be changing teachers for the second semester, you will be notified in an email on Monday, January 25, of the new teacher assignment.
- Emails will ONLY be sent to families whose student will be changing teachers.
- If you do not receive an email on Monday, January 25, your student will be remaining with his/her current teacher for the second semester.
- New teacher/classroom assignments will begin on Tuesday, February 2 (the first day of the second semester). All students will remain with his/her current teacher and class next week (January 25 - 29).
We appreciate your understanding and assure you that we will do everything we can to support our students in these transitions. Please contact me at stacey.mamon@mpark.net with any questions.

On Monday, January 11, the Manassas Park City School Board voted to delay the rollout to a hybrid model of teaching and learning. They will be reassessing the conditions and will discuss the matter at the next regularly-scheduled Board meeting on Monday, January 25. If conditions are favorable for a return to an in-person, hybrid model, new reopening dates will be proposed.
The Great Kindness Challenge
We are excited to announce that Manassas Park Elementary will be participating in 2021 The Great Kindness Challenge. This is a nation-wide challenge that promotes kindness from January 25th to January 29th, 2021.
Due to the virtual world, we have made the decision to alter the way students will complete the checklist. We are going to use it as a community builder and have homerooms collectively work together to complete the various tasks on their GKC Homeroom Virtual Checklist. Those who participate can share what items that they have personally completed as well as show off their spirit day attire via Flipgrid!
We hope to take the Flipgrid submissions and create a “Great Kindness Challenge at Manassas Park” review video to show all the great kind acts that were completed! Please encourage your child to participate in The Great Kindness Challenge and Flipgrids!
If you would like to spread kindness as a family, we would encourage you to take on the extra challenge of the Family Edition of The Great Kindness Challenge! Check the check list out here.
Are you up to the challenge?
