Hello Deerfield Families!

I hope you are all doing well! We miss you so much! I can't believe we are down to the last three weeks of school. We are continuing to build this plane while in the air and trying to do our best to get information out to you in a timely manner! I can't tell you how appreciative I am of your support, patience and understanding as we navigate through the rest of this year! #deerfielddefinitelyrocks

Below are a few updates for you. I do not yet have information on the process for closing out the school year. However, I do know that there WILL BE a process for picking up personal belongings at some point, either end of May or sometime in June.

I also know that students will be given the option of keeping their iPad through the summer or checking it in when personal belongings are picked up. More details on this will be forthcoming when they are solidified.

Keep smiling, shining and safe!

The Art Teacher In Quarantine

In case you missed it, our very own Deerfield Art Teacher is famous now! How lucky are we to have this amaze-ball teacher, who we look forward to seeing every week! Mrs. Hurst - You make me want to stay in quarantine!!

Class Placements for 2020-21

Deerfield Elementary uses academic, behavioral and social-emotional data in a collaborative process among teachers to place students in class sections for the following school year. Our goal is to achieve the best possible balance for each class within a grade level. As a reminder Deerfield does not accept requests for specific teachers, nor are students automatically assigned to a teacher the family has had in the past. Additionally, we will not accept requests for specific classmates.

However, you may provide us with information about your child for our consideration in this process by completing the Learner Profile form below. The information you provide to us is appreciated and serves as supplemental information in our process to achieve the desired balance.

Email your learner profile to Japplema@usd497.org no later than May 10th!

My wonderful Deerfield family,

My time at this exceptional school has come to an end. Although I only taught at Deerfield for one year, it was the best year I could’ve asked for. The community at Deerfield is unbeatable and the joy I found teaching at this school will be hard to surpass. When August rolls around I will be trading lesson plans and school supplies for baby diapers and quality time spent with my little boy. I couldn’t be more grateful for the co-workers that turned into close friends and the quick acceptance and support I was given this school year. I will truly miss you all and cherish the time I was given at this amazing elementary school family.

Hi Deerfield!

I just wanted to thank all of you for being my first school family! I will miss each and every one of you so much. Although I am leaving Lawrence, I am continuing on in education and hope to have just as amazing students as you!

Big hugs from six feet away,

Miss Paige

Dear Deerfield Families,

I am sad to share that I will not be returning to Deerfield next year. I have decided I am going to be trying something new, but will miss this family oh so much! I have loved the past two years I have spent at Deerfield and have learned so much! This school will always hold a special place in my heart! I do look forward to still seeing your smiling faces around Lawrence! I will miss you lots!

Love, Mrs. Alyx Mediavilla

Dear Third Graders--

It has been the most amazing year! We started out together last fall....and made it to Spring Break. Never did we dream that we would not be back in our classroom together! It's been an interesting journey with online learning. There are good days and hard days. Throughout the Covid-19 "Stay at Home" order, the bright spot in each and every day was YOU! You are smart, you are kind, you care about each other and those around you. Never give up the "can do" spirit! Have a safe and healthy summer!

xoxoxo Mrs. Bailey
