A Note from Principal Toepfer...
Hello Bird Families,
It is the last week of school and I can’t believe it! We have a very fun week in store for our Blue Jays. Remember, Thursday, May 26 is our last day of school and it is a half day with dismissal at 11:35.
To keep your student’s academic skills up over the summer, the most important thing for them to do is read, read, read! Here in Sun Prairie, we have an amazing Summer Reading Program through the Sun Prairie Public Library. This is a great way to keep our kiddos engaged with reading throughout the summer. Check out this promotional video. Registration for the Summer Reading Program begins June 1.
Stay cool!
Sending love to our families!

Social Emotional Learning Spotlight: Gratitude
This month our students are finishing up the last unit of Second Step focusing on Problem Solving. In Life Skills they are learning about gratitude. Did you know that writing down the things you are thankful for can help you feel happier because it trains your brain to look for the good? Our students are practicing this by writing thank you letters to adults who have helped them this year! May is Mental Health Awareness Month. This virtual Family Resource Room contains links to resources that support the social-emotional learning we have done at Bird, mental health organizations and videos, podcasts and mindfulness practice. Hope your summer is full of time to care for each other!
