"Summertime and the living is easy..."🎶

Summer break is here! As the song says, summertime is meant to be a slower paced enjoyable season! This is the time long awaited by students, a time to rejuvenate, rest, and recuperate. For our students and families summer offers some great opportunities for extra reading, playing, exploring and more. Some of these adventures can be found right here in our own backyard! On that note I hope everyone is able to visit the public library this summer. Our local library summer reading kick off party is May 31st, and various special guests, jugglers, magicians, and even Chehaw Zoo will be visiting this summer!

Parent Empowerment-the latest Parent Academy Update!

Our latest Parent Academy was a virtual meeting on Facebook Live, on May 21, 2021. This PA is accessible on our Pelham City School Facebook page and the focus was "Summer Slide". We took a few minutes to discuss what summer slide is and how it effects many of our students returning to school in the fall. Our special guest for PA was Mrs. Alicia Donaldson, PCS Literacy Coach, who offered helpful and fun summer learning tips for all ages. We ended the session with sharing our Summer Slide Interactive Resource Guide. Please check out our video if you have not had a chance to yet and thanks for your on going support of our PCS Parent Engagement Program. We hope you have a blessed summer and we look forward to in-person parent activities as well as virtual in the fall!!!

Coping with Your ADHD Child for the Summer!🌞

Summer time with the kids home from school is fun but sometimes a little challenging with our children that have ADHD. They are fun and enthusiastic as well as scattered and hyperactive. Thankfully there is more and more information about ADHD and so many avenues of support out there.

I recently happened upon this great article from ADDitude- Inside the ADHD Mind entitled "A Successful Summer". The article is packed with great tips and thoughts about how to have a successful summer with your ADHD child. The website is a world of helpful information for the family, friend or community member trying to help and/or interact successfully with those who have ADHD.
