DMS/DHS December Family Newsletter
December 2023
Hello Dodgeland Middle and High School Families!
December is here and with it comes a month full of music, celebrations, winter sports, and so much more! I invite all of you to join us throughout the month as our students showcase their hard work and talents! Please see the upcoming events below and check our district calendar to see all of these great events. There are amazing things happening at Dodgeland!
I am also excited to share some new things happening at Dodgeland! In November we began our Trojan of the Week program to recognize two DHS students each week. Be sure to be on the lookout on our social media pages and on all the screens throughout the buildings for those students. We also rolled out a new online payment system to streamline the process for our families. There is a link below that will take you to our district page for directions on how to pay your fees online.
I hope that you all have a wonderful and safe Holiday Season!
Go Trojans!

Families find out whether school is closed or delayed through the Bright Arrow messaging system, which uses your information in PowerSchool to send an email, text and/or phone call. You can also check with local radio and television stations or check the school website at www.dodgeland.k12.wi.us.
The district covers many miles and parents may decide that the weather conditions are unsafe for travel. In those cases, Dodgeland supports parents’ decisions to keep their children safe.
As winter approaches, please remember our school's dress code policy. Encourage your child to dress in layers, wear a warm coat, bring hats, gloves, and scarves, and choose appropriate footwear. However, please note that blankets are not allowed, and coats should not be worn during class time to maintain a focused learning environment. While staying warm is important, let's also ensure that clothing choices align with our guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for all.
While we wait for new information about when the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) will be available, now is the perfect time for students and their contributors to get their FSA IDs. That way, they are ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® as soon as it becomes available.
What is an FSA ID?
- An FSA ID is a username and password that is required to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED websites such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
- Why do you recommend doing this now?
- Processing a new FSA ID can take up to 5 business days. By getting those IDs now, it means your students and their families will be ready to complete and submit the FAFSA® once it's available and not have to wait for their FSA IDs to process.
- Beginning with the 2024–25 FAFSA®, all contributors (student, student's spouse, and/or parent) must have their own FSA ID.
- To create an FSA ID, please go to studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch.
- To retrieve a forgotten FSA ID or password, please go to studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing and click either the "Forgot my Username" or "Forgot my Password" links.
Middle School Parents
During the month of November, Ms. Buss the School Counselor was able to meet with all middle school students and share information regarding Academic and Career Planning (ACP). ACP is intended to equip students and their families with the tools necessary to make more informed choices about postsecondary education, training, and careers for life after high school. The goal is for every student to graduate academically, socially, emotionally and life ready. The students are using Xello, a computer software program to explore ACP. Students can use this software to take career-related assessments, explore online career and college profiles, and get information about financial aid and employment. Encourage your child to share their Xello profile with you! There will be more ACP activities presented by the School Counselor throughout the school year.
