WHAT WE ARE LEARNING NEXT WEEK
Writing: We will continue our poetry unit, learning to identify and use poetic elements (including rhyme, line breaks and rhythm). I can celebrate my poetry writings.
Word Study: I can identify and use the correct prefixes using prefixes pre, dis, un, and re.
Social Studies: I can identify major landforms and bodies of water through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Science: I can measure, record and graph weather information regarding wind conditions using the appropriate tools. I can record and organize the data collected in a way that makes sense.
Math: I can generate a number that is greater than or less than a given whole number up to 1,200. I can compare and order whole numbers up to 1,200 using comparative language, numbers, and the symbols >, <, or =. (We will also take the Math MAP this week).

Play It Safe with Mrs. Garvin
During the months of February and March, our counselor will teach all children about personal safety using the “Play it Safe” program. “Play it Safe” is a child abuse awareness and prevention program for children. It teaches children to protect themselves by recognizing, reacting to, and reporting potentially dangerous situations.

PORTRAITS FOR YEARBOOK
If you were not able to come to school to get your child’s picture taken for the yearbook, please feel free to send them to your child’s designer.
You can have your child stand in front of any plain background (white wall is fine), and take a picture. Please make sure the picture is not blurry.
Use the following picture as an example. Email your child’s picture to their designer by February 3rd, 2021 with your child’s full name and the word portrait in the subject line. Example below:
