Monday Memo

February 1-5, 2016

Hello February!

I can't believe we are already into February, and we are still enjoying a mild, beautiful winter. This weekend was so beautiful!

This year sure has certainly flown by. We are busy working with the leadership team to look forward to next year. In the next week you will receive a survey with some scheduling information. We would like your feedback on the 3 schedule options we are presenting. We will review feedback from you, as well as the leadership team, and select the one that will work the best for the staff.

Thank you to all those that jumped in to help subs as many were out at a conference.

Thank you to Kim Schierding and Jen Hecktor for helping teachers work on leveling books.

Thank you to those that have entered their book totals in the inventory form.

When ALL means ALL...A Look at RtI

This week during team meetings we will discuss RtI using an article. Those that attended the powerful learning conference had the pleasure of hearing Mike Mattos speak about what ALL means ALL really means. Below are a few take aways from that presentation. I'm excited for our conversations this week and our progress in RtI this year.

When a school or district functions as a PLC, educators within the organization embrace high levels of learning for ALL students as the reason the organization exists and the fundamental responsibility of those who work within it.

Ensuring that ALL students learn requires a systematic process that guarantees every child receives the additional time and support needed to learn at high levels.

Powerful Learning Conference

Last week a team of teachers accompanied Jennifer Hecktor and myself at the Powerful Learning Conference at Tan-Tar-A. This was a wonderful two days of learning about PLCs, standards based grading, social media, and positive school culture, just to name a few. We will be meeting as a group soon to plan the best way to deliver some of the wonderful information we gathered. Stay tuned!
