Ms. Webster's Third Grade Class

Our Classroom News Brief

Thawing Out

I hope you all enjoyed your snow week! The third grade team took the extra time at school to plan in-depth for the third quarter which is now upon us. As we move forward, here will be several schedule changes thanks to winter storm Jonas. mClass testing will continue this week with the math and reading MAP tests being moved to next Tuesday and Wednesday, February 2nd and 3rd. Our class is scheduled to take those tests first thing in the morning (8:15) so please make sure you do your best to have your students at school on-time. We will also be participating in Internet Safety and Child Abuse Prevention lessons with our Digital Lead Teacher, Mrs. Eggett and our Guidance Counselor, Mr. Ackerman. Finally, our Meet the Teacher breakfast has been rescheduled to this Friday the 29th. There will be refreshments. I hope that you will be able to join us for a short visit between 7:30 and 8:30.

Third Quarter

As mentioned above, the third grade team has been working hard this week to plan uniform curriculum for the new quarter. We will finish our work on multiplication and division and move on to area and perimeter before beginning fractions in the second week of February. We will begin working with information texts both in reading and writing. As for social studies and science, we will study both the natural and human elements that make up our regional community. Please check the newsletter each week for more detailed information on what your student is learning as we move through the quarter.

Supplies Requested!

I believe that students work best when they have fuel to power their brains. To that end, I allow students to eat a healthy snack during our Brain Break at 10:00 am. Because it isn't fair to students who buy their lunch and may not have a lunch box from which to pull or for students who have forgotten their lunch, to not get a snack, I have been providing clementines and crackers to students who would like them. If you are able, please consider purchasing the economy sized snack option the next time you are at the store to help make sure ALL of our brains are running at peak efficiency!

Please make sure there are no peanuts or tree nuts in the snacks. Please and thank you!

We are also on our last box of tissues, As we are right in the middle of cold season, we are often a sniffly bunch. We would be grateful for a few more boxes of Kleenex before we run out!

Thank you for all you do for your student, their classmates, and me!

Parent Survey

Please complete the attached survey and return to school with your child. They will receive a homework pass if these are returned to me by the end of the week. You may also bring it with you on Friday. The information you provide will help me make sure that information flows more effectively between home and school.
