Northwood News May 8-12
Be Smart. Be Kind. Be United. Be a Unicorn.
Thank you for Choosing Northwood!
Dear Northwood Community,
Tomorrow, Tuesday, we take our final STAAR test of the year. The campus will be closed to visitors and volunteers due to the secure nature of the test and needing to have an uninterrupted testing environment. Event though it is the last day of testing, there is still a lot of learning to be done this year. Every day is important, so please be on time and refrain from picking your child up early. It is disruptive to the whole class' learning when we have these interruptions. Thank you for your assistance.
This week we celebrate School Nurses Week! Please join me in thanking Nurse Lee and Mrs. Jaimez for the work they do in caring for our children. They always greet the children with a smile, kindness and compassion when they come to the clinic. We are lucky to have them at Northwood.
Don't forget to refer to THIS link to view the document of all of the events happening in May and feel print it for future reference.
We will continue to keep you posted of the events coming up with all the details as well.
Have a great week and thank you for your support!
Mrs. Harper

Please have your child put a book in their backpack, so they can read while they wait. At 7:23 am the teachers will pick up the students and go to class. The tardy bell rings at 7:30 am, so please allow plenty of time. In order to ensure the safety of all our students, we ask that parents not come into the building in the mornings. We will make sure that everyone gets to class safely. | School AbsencesOur goal is for all of our students to maintain outstanding attendance (at least 95%). Our current attendance rate is 93.3%, We have had a little drop over the past couple of weeks. We are close, but every child, every day makes a difference! The best way to learn is by being present at school! If your child needs to be absent due to illness, please be sure to send a note to school the day they return explaining the reason for the absence. Absences for illness and medical appointments will be excused with a written note. | Pick-Up ProcedureEveryone picking up a student from school at dismissal is required to present an official Northwood Dismissal Tag. Official green tags with your child’s name and grade were passed out the first week of school or when you registered. If you need an extra one, please let your child’s teacher know. If you do not have a dismissal tag, you will be required to come to the front office and present an ID to receive a dismissal tag.
All car pick and parent pick up must present their tag and wait for their child to be called at dismissal. Please do not walk over to where the children are waiting to get your child before they are called, as we cannot confirm your identity. We understand that this may take a little longer, however, we want to ensure that everyone goes homes safely. Thank you for your cooperation |
