A Peek at Next Week

Writing - Writers will begin the first draft of their realistic fiction piece. They have used a story mountain graphic organizer to note their problem and main events. Students will write in third person and solve the story's main problem along the way.

Reading - Readers will continue with character work this week - character traits, character's feelings, and character change. Students will practice reading the character's dialogue to determine clues to the character's personality and feelings.

Students will begin with learning about same sized groups, including repeated addition, multiples, number lines, strip diagrams, arrays, and more. They will play a game with arrays that will help with multiplication and eventually lead to area.

Social Studies - How Do People Become Part of our Country? - students will learn about immigration, the different reasons people come to our country, and how they enter our country.

Calling for Pictures!!

I would LOVE to make a flipagram from your holiday! Please send me a few of your favorite pictures from the break, ones that include your family, your child, or any other one you love that shows the fun you had. I will make a holiday flipagram from all of the ones that are submitted and include it in my next newsletter. I will also include a few of my own. I did this last year and it was really fun. Just email them to me by Monday, January 4th. THANK YOU!!
