On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama was inaugurated as the president of the United States.

His background

President Obama was a community organizer in Chicago.  He went to Harvard Law School and served as a State Senator for Illionis.  In 2004 he ran for a position as a U. S. senator.  After just months of being as U. S. senator, President Obama announced he was running for President.
