Attendance Awareness Month
We have been so impressed with the majority of our students being present, early and on time. Thank you parents for teaching your children good habits of timeliness and respect. We surely have the best students because of amazing parents and teachers. We hope that our school is a place your students want to come and you want to send them to each day.
Front Office Procedures
Thank you for your support as we work to create efficient and safe front office procedures for our school community. Our busy arrival/dismissal times present unique challenges as we have more than 1,000 students each with their own destination. Please read below as there are a few updates.
Please remember:
- Anytime you visit the school: Bring a photo ID (driver's license, passport) to hold up to the camera. You cannot check out your student, visit, or volunteer without presenting your original ID. Pictures on a phone are not accepted.
- At Arrival: If your student arrives tardy (after the 7:50 A.M. bell), you must walk them to the front vestibule. Fill out the slip for late arrivals, then push the call button for assistance.
- At Dismissal: If you arrive late to pick up your student, present your ID or dismissal tag to the camera and wait in the front vestibule until a RAE staff member can check out your student to you.
- When dropping off forgotten items: Lunches, water bottles, coats, eyeglasses are the item that can be dropped off and must be dropped off with their name clearly labeled on the teal slip and place on the black cart in the vestibule by 10 A.M. to ensure delivery.
- During the School Day: When picking up your student for an appointment, parents fill out the white slip & must present identification when checking them out. Parents will be asked to wait in the lobby while we call for the student(s). Please be aware that our classes move to different locations in the building during the day and it may take extra time for us to help your student gather their backpack, etc. If a person other than a student's legal guardian will pick up a student, a note from the parent with a photo of the parent's driver's license attached must be sent from the email address on file with Katy ISD. The note can be sent to RAEcommunications@katyisd.org or with their student to school and should include a full name and address for the adult picking up the child. When checking a student back into school, please fill out the slip with student information, push the call button, and send the student inside the front office to check in with the front office team member.
5th Grade Parents
Our 5th Grade Fishing Field trip to the Outdoor Learning Center will be Wednesday, November 1st. Students will be creating T-shirts with our art teachers on this field trip. Please scan the QR code below to complete the google form to select your students’ t-shirt size.
A Pay N’ Go link will be sent home in the next few weeks. Thank you for your cooperation!
Library Book Notifications
Parents/guardians will receive a notification from Katy ISD when their student checks out a library book, if these notifications are turned on by the parent in MyKatyCloud. In rare situations that a student checks out a book and immediately returns it, the parent will still receive the notification. A notification will also be sent when a student checks out a book in Sora, the app that contains Katy ISD’s e-books and audiobooks.

** New ** SMART Tag ID system for Eligible Bus Riders
On Wednesday, August 16 a new SMART Tag ID system will be rolled out across Katy ISD school buses to help monitor ridership, including when and where a student is picked up or dropped off by a school bus. This new system will replace Katy ISD’s Edulog Lite App.
As part of the new process, the school identification (ID) cards of eligible bus riders will incorporate a SMART Tag ID, which they will use every time they enter and exit their school bus.
Parents and guardians will also have access to the SMART Tag Parent Web Portal — a cloud-based platform that will enable them to monitor their student’s ridership and bus route. Parents of eligible riders will need to register with the SMART Tag Parent Web Portal to take advantage of these features. More information about the registration process will be provided to parents of eligible riders, via the email address on file with the district, within the coming week. To sign up for the new system, parents will need the student’s ID number, date of birth and name of campus the student attends.
In the meantime, additional information about the SMART Tag program can be found on the Katy ISD Transportation Department’s Smart Tag webpage.
