COG Safe Routes to School Public Meetings
Metro COG is offering public input meetings to collaborate with the community on the Fargo Safe Routes to School Plan. The intent of these meetings is to share information on existing conditions for walking and biking to school and gather comments from the community. The open houses will give families and community stakeholders an opportunity to provide input on issues and needs related to biking and walking. Everyone is invited to participate. Each meeting will be focused on the schools in that area (see below), but will also have information on the plan as a whole and the approach is consistent across all neighborhood/public input areas. The public meetings will be held at each middle school at the following times:
Location: Discovery Middle School – Lunchroom
Date: Monday, May 6
Time: 6-7:30 p.m.
Discussion and information focused on:
1. Discovery Middle School
2. Ed Clapp Elementary
3. Eagles Elementary

ATTENTION CURRENT 4TH GRADERS: ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING 5TH GRADE ORCHESTRA?
The orchestra teachers will be coming to 4th grade music classrooms during the month of May to show your child the instruments of the orchestra (violin, viola, cello and bass) and demonstrate the characteristics of each. Orchestra classes will begin next fall for 5th graders who are interested in being a part of the program.
Students and their parents/guardians are asked to attend one of the following rental nights from 5:00-7:00:
Thursday, May 16th at Carl Ben Eielson
Tuesday, May 21st at Ben Franklin
Thursday, May 23rd at Discovery
At the event, you can sign up to rent an instrument and purchase supplies. Also, please plan on attending one of the parent information sessions either at 5:00-5:30 or 6:00-6:30. The parent information session will give you a chance to ask any questions and learn about opportunities you will have in orchestra. Plan to spend a total of about one hour. You may go to one of the three music stores in the area if you are unable to attend any of these rental nights.
Please email Kathleen Thomas if you have specific questions. Thank you!
