Silver Creek Chronicle
Week of November 1st, 2021
From Mrs. Flemming
This has been such a fun week at Silver Creek. I hope you have been following along on Facebook and Instagram to see all of the pictures from the Pajama Jam Literacy Night, 2nd grade music performance, Red Ribbon dress-up, and character parade.
We were able to cap off our week with AEF grants. These grants from the Azle Education Foundation allow teachers to purchase items for their classrooms that making learning exciting. Our SC teachers are working harder than ever. Not only are they the most passionate educators I've had the privilege to work with, but they also possess such compassion for each of our campers. I cannot begin to express my amazement as I watched each of them prepare for a night full of reading. We are so blessed!
This month we will begin our Thirty Days of Thankfulness. We would love for you to share the things about Silver Creek that you are thankful for so we can share them with our school community. Please use the link above to submit as often as you would like!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out!

Safety Drills
This coming week, our campus will complete drills for a lockdown and shelter, which are both required once in the fall and again in the spring.
Shelter – For a shelter drill, all students in classrooms downstairs will remain in their room against an interior wall away from glass. Students upstairs will be brought downstairs and shelter in designated restrooms. Students in the gym or cafeteria will also shelter in designated restrooms. Any students outside will be brought inside to shelter in the nearest restroom. Once in place, staff members will begin accounting for students utilizing the Raptor emergency system. All staff and students will remain in place until an “All Clear” announcement is made.
Lockdown – Students will remain at their location at the time of the drill is initiated. Staff members will move any nearby students from restrooms or hallways into their room. Inside classrooms, all lights will be turned off and doors locked. Staff members will position students in a designated area of the room away from windows. Once in place, staff members will begin accounting for students utilizing the Raptor emergency system. All staff and students will remain in place and silent until an “All Clear” announcement is made.
Thanksgiving Lunches
We are so excited to have our families join us for Thanksgiving lunch this year. Adult meals will be $3.75 and must be paid in cash with exact change. If change is needed that amount will be applied to your student's lunch account. All parents will need to enter through the front door facing 730, sign-in, and get a visitor tag. Family will eat together in the gym. If possible, please CLICK HERE to RSVP what day you will attend and the number of meals needed.
We are also needing 4 volunteers each day to help at the sign-in tables. If interested, please email kcarpenter1@azleisd.net
