NEW - From 6th Grade
ELA:
Exciting times in 6th Grade this week…we went to the Book Fair on Wednesday and students were so excited about all the new books at the fair. We love to see this enthusiasm for reading in ELA! We continued reading Amal Unbound and analyzed vocabulary, conflict, and summary writing for chapters 9-12. Also, we attended the incredible musical on Thursday - what a fabulous production that so many 6th graders were involved with.
SS:
Social studies classes spent this week reviewing ancient Egypt by playing some fun Egyptian games. We also introduced our new Silk Road unit that will start next week.
Math:
Math classes completed Lesson 24 this week and will move on to Lesson 25 next week. Please see the attached Family Letter for more details about this lesson.
Science:
Students finished up our discussions covering the motions of objects in space. Next week we will review and take the Moon, Earth and Sun Assessment. This assessment covers everything from the motions of objects in space unit, including phases of the moon. Students will receive a copy of the study guide on Monday and should study these until the assessment on Wednesday.
NEW - From 7th Grade
ELA:
Students are finishing a review of what symbols are in literature. They applied this by drawing images from Touching Spirit Bear that represent symbols of Cole’s journey thus far.
Advanced Math:
We are starting algebra equations with a review of last year and quickly moving into multi-step! It will be important for the students to show all the algebraic steps in order to be successful and ready for next year! We think the students will really enjoy this unit!
Science:
This week, we did a fun station rotation to demonstrate the cell processes of diffusion and osmosis! We also assessed at the end of the week. Just to start putting this on the radar, after winter break, we will need LARGE boxes (and some other sizes too). If you make any large purchases and want to donate your box (ex: tv’s, refrigerators, etc…) We would really appreciate it! You can bring them up early if that’s more convenient for you. We welcome the cardboard starting now! Molde students: If staying after school Monday, please make sure to have a completed retest form and a ride available at 4pm!
General News:
Please make sure your student has paper and pencils! Thanks!
NEW - From 8th Grade
Science:
The particle project is due Tuesday in Ms. Amihere’s class. All classes will be continuing with density and then we will be looking at different types of matter including: molecules, compounds and elements.
NEW - From Elective Classes
ABMS 7th & 8th Grade Choirs will perform at Crown Center on December 15th at 5:00pm and 5:45pm. Plan a family outing to come join us!

REVIEW - 8th Grade PSAT Test Date
Each year Blue Valley Middle Schools offer the PSAT 8 to 8th grade students to be taken during the academic school day. The PSAT 8 is the 8th grade version of the PSAT National Merit scholarship test given to high school juniors, and further serves as practice for future standardized testing events. It also provides students/families information about their child’s academic progress. ABMS will have all 8th grade students take this test the morning of November 15th. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during the morning hours from 7:51am - 11:15am as the test will be administered during this time. There are no makeups for this test if a student misses the testing window. There is also no ability to start the test late or finish the test at a later time. More information will be shared in the coming weeks about this assessment.
