October 6-10: Fall Break (no school)

October 11th: Start of Q2

PRHS final exams are half days due to the importance of the assessments and to provide students with ample studying time. Students will arrive at school during regular hours, but they will leave at 11:20. The busses will take them home at this time. Also, we do not serve lunch on these days. Final Exams cannot be given early.

Monday 10/3

1st Block Exams: 7:10 - 9:10

2nd Block Exams: 9:20 - 11:20

Tuesday 10/4

3rd Block Exams: 7:10 - 9:10

4th Block Exams: 9:20 - 11:20

Wednesday 10/5

Regular Bell Schedule: 7:10 - 2:10

Quarter 1 will end on Wednesday, October 5th. Quarter 2 will begin on Tuesday, October 11th when we return from Fall Break.

The PSAT is administered once a year nationwide. The administration date for the 2022 PSAT is Tuesday, October 25th, 2022. This is a great assessment to get a baseline of expected performance for the SAT that many students will take. Peachtree Ridge (through a grant from the Georgia Department of Education) offers the PSAT FREE OF CHARGE to all students in a 10th-grade PRIDE. Students in a 10th grade PRIDE class are automatically registered.

9th or 11th grader interested in taking the PSAT?

If you are interested in taking the PSAT, registration for this assessment is done on the MYPAYMENTSPLUS.com website. Only students in 9th and 11th grade PRIDE would need to register. The cost of the exam is $18. Registration is open now through September 30th at midnight through MyPaymentsPlus. Students may register as a LATE REGISTRANT (pending enough materials) on the MYPAYMENTSPLUS site through October 8th at midnight at a cost of $25.

A recent application update requires you to delete and install the ParentVUE and StudentVUE mobile app from your device(s).

This update ensures that you have the newest version of the app and will continue to receive updates. If you do not delete and reinstall the applications, your device may not connect properly and continue to receive updates.

The PTSA Reflections committee kicks off the Reflections Arts Program, a nationally recognized contest of the arts. Schools from the local, state and national level participate in this long-standing commitment to arts education and recognize students for their creative interpretations of the yearly theme. For more details (and entry forms) visit the PRHS PTSA webpage and choose the Reflections Tab.

This year the theme is "Show Your Voice!"

New Deadline for Entries is October 12

This is a friendly reminder that students are not allowed to receive outside food/drink deliveries throughout the day. Make sure your student brings their lunch to school daily to maximize instructional time. Please limit lunch drop-offs as we are not able to guarantee timely delivery to your student. All students have the opportunity to receive a healthy, nutritious lunch through our school cafeteria.

All yearbooks, Senior Ads, and accessories can be purchased at Balfour.com. Order by February 1 to secure a copy. The yearbook quantity order is placed based on February 1 sales and very few extra books are ordered.

Herff Jones will be on campus Wednesday, November 9th during all lunches for class ring order. Graduation invitation orders can be placed at https://www.3rdascent.com/

Thursday, 10/11/2022 - E110 (The HUB) at 2:30pm

Sports tickets can only be purchased via GoFan with a credit or debit card to home sporting events. To purchase a home ticket for games please click on PRHS GOFAN. Many other schools are also going touch-less for tickets as well. If they are using GoFan, those tickets will also be available under Peachtree Ridge.

The PRHS Robo Lions will be participating in the Duluth Fall Festival on Saturday September 24th . The team will have a parade float in each of the festivals' parades. The team has been working hard on our float, so please come out to show support of Peachtree Ridge and the robotics team.

Selecting a Senior Picture for the Yearbook

The final day to submit Senior Portraits for the yearbook is October 17

Students can turn in their choices 3 ways:

1) Email it in to magicmomentprhs@yahoo.com (include image number and name)
2) Go online to www.magicmomentphotography.com Click "order online" in the top right corner
Choose 2023 Yearbook Choices and go from there
3) Enter it when placing an order online

Purchase and Build Deadline is November 30 (See attached handout for building specifics).

• Policy Change: Senior Ads can be purchased at Balfour.com. Parents are responsible for using the Ad Builder program to build and create their Senior Ad
• The Yearbook Staff will proof the ads and adjust fonts and colors to match the look and feel of the book.
• Incomplete ads will default to a 1/8 page ad with a senior portrait and generic message to the student.
• Refunds will not be given for Senior Ads for any reason.
• Size Options: Full page ($400), Half Page ($250), Quarter Page ($200), Eight Page ($100), NEW Option!! All Text Shout Out: 500 Characters, no Pictures ($30)

Social Engineering describes a variety of tactics by which a cybercriminal uses the social skills that are part of human interaction to trick people into doing something they should not do. They gain the individual's confidence through deception in order to persuade the individual to share sensitive information, infect their computer with malware, or provide physical access to a desired location. Criminals may appear to be legitimate, posing as a credible person or impersonating a well-known and respected organization. They may claim to be a new employee, a vendor with whom the school district does business, or even the GCPS Help Desk.
