A Peak at Next Week (Week 3)
In social studies we will be locating and plotting Missouri's largest cities, rivers, and lakes. We will also take a look into Missouri's overall climate.
In math we will continue to work on subtracting with regrouping with large numbers and identifying/continuing the pattern. We will begin the next unit in math next Monday.
In reading we will be working on identifying the theme of a story. We will also begin small group instruction.
In spelling we will be working on Unit 9. Students will be identifying long vowel sounds and making past tense verbs by changing y to i and adding -es.
A Note from the Teacher
The Fun(d) Run was a success. We had beautiful weather and no injuries. Congrats to Drew Heller and Azaria Kocher who both won prizes for the contributions their friends/family made to North School.
We got an email the other day from the board office asking us to pass along the information that Birthday Treats and any Holiday Treats need to be store bought. The number of allergies in school is growing tremendously, and home-made goodies aren't printed with ingredients list on the container. Please note that this is a JCPS thing, not just North School.
I am excited to meet with each and every one of you for Parent/Teacher Conferences. This week, conferences will be on Thursday from 3:15-7:00 p.m. Please remember that there is a Book Fair going on in the library, so be sure to bring your wallets.

October Birthdays
The students and I have been discussing AMAZING answers and what they consist of. I have started rewarding students who have AMAZING work with a little treat each time their papers are returned and in excellent condition. Ask your student if they have had any AMAZING papers.
