Have you purchased your 2015/16 Chico High yearbook? If not, you are in luck, the deadline to purchase yearbooks has been extended to Friday, January 22nd. Yearbooks are $85 and can be purchased in the Panther Post or online at the CHS website under student store.


CSF applications are due to Mrs. Chandler in the counseling office by Thursday, January 28th. EARLY APPLICATIONS ARE VERY WELCOME! Seniors: This semester is required for lifetime membership.


It’s NOT too late to apply to College Connection. Pick up an application in the Counseling Office today and follow the application steps outlined on the cover page.

Hey Chico High!!! If you would like to perform in the multicultural rally, go to room D-5 or S-6 and talk to Mr. Simmons about your idea. Talk to Mr. Simmons before February 26th. The multicultural rally is on April 8th. Be sure to represent your culture!!!


For all those interested in trying out for the boys golf team, there will be sign up meetings on Wednesday, February 3rd and February 10th at 3:15pm in Lincoln Center. Tryouts will start on Tuesday, February 16th.

Congratulations to the following students who participated and sang with the 2016 California Music Educator’s Association Honor Choir last weekend: Jared Garbibaldi, Hannah Bond, Katya Nayduch, Catherine Bultema and Clara Coon.


Anna Conley (French Horn), Kobe Hassenzahl (Tuba), and Bjorn Larsen (Trumpet) have been selected to be in the Northern California Band and Choral Directors Association Honor band. They will be travelling to Humboldt State in mid February. Great job!


If you intend to participate in Chico High’s Lion’s Club Speech Contest, you must sign up with Chris Goldmann in K212 by January 20th. The Contest will be held on January 28th after school in room K212. The winner will receive a gift card for $50 and will compete at the Club Contest on February 6th. Remember, students have the potential to win $22,550. This could be a great beginning to a college education!

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS! OUTDOOR SCHOOL COUNSELOR APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE! Chico Unified is looking for camp counselors for their 6th Grade Outdoor School Camps located at Shady Creek, Whiskeytown and Butte Meadows. Outdoor School is a week-long outdoor education camp where counselors will have the opportunity to help students learn about themselves, work together, make new friends, and develop responsibility while supervising a small group of 6th grade students in a cabin setting. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and are due back in the Counseling Office by Friday, January 29th.


A Children’s Concert “Symphony Surprise” on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., in Laxson Auditorium on the Chico State Campus. Tickets are $5.

Ampla Health in Chico, a community health center is offering at no cost health insurance application assistance for Covered California and Medi-Cal. We are in the final month of “Open Enrollment” for Covered California (Nov. 1 2015 thru Jan. 31, 2016). There is a penalty for adults and children that do not have affordable minimum coverage; both Covered California and Medi-Cal meet this requirement. Re: New immunization requirements for 2016

Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.
