It is hard to believe but the school year is almost halfway over. 2nd Semester (3rd Quarter) begins this Wednesday, February 3rd. Please make sure that your child checks that all of their work is completed through ParentVue. Be sure to follow up with their teachers if you have any questions.
If next week is your first time your child is in the building for 'in person' instruction please be sure to complete the First Day Packets. These forms are very important.

On Monday, February 1st, please check ParentVue to confirm that your child's instructional model is accurate. If it is not correct, please email Nicole DePalma, our counseling secretary at ndepalma@pvsd.org
As always, do not hesitate to contact the counseling center or main office if you have any questions or concerns.

Change of Instructional Mode
The 3rd Quarter (2nd Semester) will begin this Wednesday, February 3rd. This is also a Group 1 (A-L) day for ‘in person’ instruction. This will be the first day of ‘in person’ instruction for any Group 1 students who are changing instructional mode from virtual to hybrid. Group 2 (M-Z) is Thursday (2/4) and Friday (2/4).
If you have already submitted a request for a change in instructional mode through our Google form, your request is currently being processed and will be approved. However, you will not see this change in instructional mode updated in ParentVue until Monday, February 1st. The google form has been turned off. At that time any requests to change instructional mode must be made directly to the school principal via email and will need approval and be based on available space. Each request will be looked at individually on a case by case basis.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure the safety of our students.
8th Grade Program Planning
Mid-February starts the program planning process for 8th grade students. Program planning involves picking courses for 9th grade while being mindful of the future courses available in 10th-12th grade. It is normal to feel anxious as your student makes the transition to the high school, but the staff at the middle school and high school are here to help. In this link, you will find great information to help you become more knowledgeable of the program planning process: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n52gG6_dDjZ04rdmTCYToWWQOqFDJ2G1dniA_y0hHt0/edit?usp=sharing
Another exciting opportunity for upcoming 9th graders is the option to take classes at North Montco Technical Career Center (NMTCC). Students watched an informational video and participated in a question and answer session last week. An open house for parents and students will be held on February 4th. More information can be found in this letter: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZDv_MWN9aUJGD6WBNubePwbjmWr16kvsK0RJho1UBlI/edit?usp=sharing Applications are available in the Counseling Center for in person students, virtual students should email their counselor for an application. Applications are due February 26th.
If you have questions about program planning or NMTCC, please contact your child's counselor.

Rock Star of the Month
As part of PBIS we are launching ‘Rock Star of the Month’. Each team will select a student every month who best exemplifies the values of being Respectful, Own It, Careful, and Kind. Students will be recognized at the end of each month with a new ‘East Rocks’ t-shirt and a certificate.
ID Badges
If your child is coming back to school for the first time this year, their ID card will be in the main office. All students need to wear their ID Badge every day that they are in school.
Library News
In addition to accessing thousands of ebooks and audiobooks, our students are able to check out print books from the library. They may stop by the library individually to select a book or below is a document with detailed instructions for how to reserve one through our online catalog. Once the library staff receives a HOLD request, they will email the student (and the homeroom teacher) to notify them that their book is ready to be picked up in the library. Recently, many new awesome books have been added to our library collection...please remind your students to take advantage of this!! LMK if you have any questions.
