They put up Presepio, or nativity scenes. This is most common in Northeastern Brazil. They also have a a huge feast and fireworks shine through the sky. They also sing a song called Los Pastores.

The biggest difference from Christmas in the US is that they have fireworks and decorate with freshly picked flowers.

Papai Noel brings the presents to all children. They children put their shoes out for Papai Noel to put some presents in.

What foods are eaten there?

A huge Christmas dinner, unusual in the hot summertime, includes turkey, ham, colored rice, and wonderful vegetable and fruit dishes.

Christmas is the only holiday they celebrate in December.
