National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week 2024 is Feb. 5-9, 2024, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. National School Counseling Week is always celebrated the first full week in February. A special thanks to Ms. Thomas (6th Grade Counselor), Ms. Anderson (7th Grade Counselor), and Mrs. Neal (8th Grade Counselor) for their work with students and families.

Interested in Track & Field? Try it! 🛤️
All 7th and 8th grade boys and girls, the official Track and Field start date will be February 5th. Practices will be Monday-Thursday from 4:10- 5:45. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Track is a great sport for beginners and anyone who is looking to become more active. It is also a great sport for anyone who is trying to stay in shape for another sport. If running is not your thing, Track and Field may still be for you. There are jumping and throwing events as well.
Are you trying out for a spring sport? If you do not make the team you can come out after tryouts. If you are currently participating in a winter sport, you can come out once the season is over.
In order to attend, you will need an updated physical for this school year. There is also a one time $75 athletic fee. If you have already paid it for a sport this year, you do not need to pay it again. If you are coming out for track, you will need to sign up for the activity bus everyday. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Powalie through email.

Random Acts of Kindness Week
Random Acts of Kindness Week
February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day (RAK). Although we aim to be kind each and every day, let's take the time to be extra intentional in showing acts of kindness during this special week. For several amazing ideas, you can visit RAK Foundation, https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas.
Here are some suggestions that are free!
Write a nice note/email to someone
Post only positive comments on Social Media
Do a chore at home without being asked
Spend some quality time with a sibling
Hold the door for someone
Draw a picture or write a poem
Help a neighbor with something
Give someone a sincere compliment
Be polite to others
For even more ideas, check out RAK 50 other options for how to show kindness below.
Get Your Tdap!
Please take advantage of this free, no appointment required vaccine clinics offered at the Lexington County Health Department over the next few months. All 7th grade students are required to have proof of a Tdap vaccine after 10 years of age. Current 6th grade students will need the Tdap vaccine in order to attend school August 7th 2024. Any student without proof of vaccination on file with the school nurse will not be allowed to attend school and any absences due to immunization non compliance will be unexcused absences. Be sure the school nurse has a current copy of your child's immunization record.
Let's Hear It For Our Dance Team!
WWDC is Heading to State!
The White Knoll War Hawk Dance Company competed in the Saltwater Showdown Classic in Murrells Inlet, SC the last weekend in January. These dancers took home 2nd place in the Lyrical category and 3rd in the Pom category (after placing in the top 3 in both categories in every competition this season). With these last placements, your War Hawks secured their spot in the South Carolina Dance Team State Championships. In a few weeks, WWDC will be making WKMS history as the very first representatives of our school at State! Please congratulate the dance team members as they prepare for this momentous occasion. Coaches Cooper and Egan are beyond proud of how hard these girls have worked this season!! Good Luck at State, War Hawks!
Thank You Lexington 1 Bus Drivers!
WKMS loves and appreciates you!
