Walters:
During the month of April, in Learning Strategies, students are actively cultivating their Social Emotional and Behavioral Skills through targeted learning strategies being taught through the Brainwise Curriculum. As they engage in activities and discussions, they actively participate in lessons using the Brainwise curriculum and the 10 Wise Ways. They are developing a deeper understanding of effective interpersonal interactions, through written exercises, dynamic discussions, role-playing scenarios, and skill demonstrations. This comprehensive method will meet the needs of the diverse learning styles among all students, and also reinforces an understanding of the practical application of the acquired knowledge.
In regards to the classroom environment as well as classroom lessons, they are aligned with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) 5 Standards, ensuring that students are not only mastering cognitive skills but also developing crucial social and emotional competencies. Through this educational approach, students acquire information, actively integrate it into their lives, which fosters a well-rounded foundation for personal and interpersonal growth.
Learning Strategies- Reading and Written Expression: Students continue honing in on their written expression skills by integrating critical thinking, creativity, and clarity into their work. The primary focus is to increase their ability in crafting well-organized and coherent essays, narratives, and arguments. The emphasis extends to fostering a more sophisticated use of language, incorporating advanced vocabulary, and employing varied sentence structures. Alongside this, students exhibit progress in grammar, punctuation, and spelling to enhance the overall efficacy of their written communication. As they tackle more intricate writing tasks, students are prompted to express their thoughts with depth and insight, refining their ability to create compelling and articulate pieces across a spectrum of genres.
